Even the rug has been changed. I did like the rug. It was a nice rug from Pottery Barn, but when it got warm from the sun shining in on it it would begin to smell. It sort of smelled like burnt rubber!! We finally sold the smelly rug and replaced it with a sisal rug from Overstock.com. Best prices on area rugs that I have found.
I went to the Benjamin Moore paint store and bought Stuart gold for the walls and York Harbor yellow for the ceiling. They look almost the same, but the ceiling color is a little creamier. Oh, and I see Bailey decided to be in this picture, too. That is usually where I can find her.
I bought this table and eight, yes I said eight chairs for less than $700.00.!!! I could not believe it. It was at a store in Jefferson, Ga. called REAL DEALS. This was a real deal!!
This table and ladderback chairs and the hutch go so much better with the Country French style that I love.
This is the first antique that my husband and I bought at a little junk shop in Suwannee many many years ago and it was quite the bargain at $130.00. It is solid oak and is from England. It even has an antique hanger in it. I have several blue and white pieces on top and a white Pottery Barn jug.
These next photos are of some artwork I have collected. I found these in different stores and I just loved the whimsical faces of these pieces. The artist is G. Rodo Boulanger. The first two are signed and numbered lithographs from a calender that the artist did. The other two prints were found in some local stores.
The first picture is the month of February and the second is November.
Sorry about the glare on this one it is across from the windows and then it picks up the chandy lights, too.
This is a close up of the hutch which is just filled with things I have collected
This buffet was part of my old dining set and we decided to keep it when we bought the table and chairs and hutch. The top of this folds open to give room for serving desserts or whatever. The lamp is a dark cobalt blue.
This is one of the chairs beside the hutch. I recovered the cushion with this toile fabric that I love and it is the same as the drapery panels. Had to have monogrammed pillows, of course since this is the south. The pillows are from Ballard's. There is one of these on each side of the hutch.
This is our chandelier which originally came with crystal globes, but I removed them and replaced them with shades to have a more casual feel. This room really isn't formal. I would like to replace or paint this chandy sometime down the road.
This photo is the view from the kitchen. The plantation shutters were added last fall after Miss Bailey chewed up the bottom of our blinds when she was a puppy! I was sure glad to have an excuse to get the shutters though. I have always loved plantation shutters.
This is a close up of some trim I added with glue to Sure Fit slipcovers for my two parsons chairs I had. I had red covers with cream trim on these during the Christmas holidays.
Here is the full view.
Here is another full shot of the room. Nice and bright and sunny and we love it. My husband who did not want it changed loves it, too!!

Your room looks so lovely...much cheerier in this soft color. The furniture shows up so much better!
Beautiful new wall color, and I do like your fun art, too.
Kim this is so pretty. You know I told you I've been visiting you on RMS...because of this room. I'm working on my dining room right now. It was suggested to me to use the fabric that you have on your windows. I love it! Also, I have plantation shutters so it helps me to see your drapes with shutters. It looks great!
Wow! When I saw the "before" I thought it was pretty, but then I scrolled down and the "after" is just breathtaking! I love the new wall color!
Beautiful! I love the changes!
Kim, your furniture is so pretty. I do love the change of rug, as well as the wall color. Your toile print is beautiful - such a cheerful and classy room! Linda
Kim I remember when you were painting this, it turned out so wonderfully and it is nice to see it again. You know that one print is my favorite. I love the touch of black and white on her skirt, now that I think back maybe it is cobalt and white stripe?? Either way I love it and it is nice to see again, Kathysue
Oh, Kim, your dining room turned out so gorgeous!! What a beautiful color you chose. Your furniture is gorgeous! I'm loving your hutch! Oh, and your draperies and that chair cushion! You did a wonderful job!

Shelia ;)
I never saw the before til now, what a difference the warm yellow color makes, the room is so pretty!!~ Your home should be featured in Southern Living sometime, because it certainly is beautiful and worthy of it:) You will figure out Picasa sometime!
Love the changes. The color is so fresh. Wonderful job!
Oh yea, now we are talking! This transformation is wonderful. You really lightened things up and I love the rug, chairs, wall color--the whole deal. BTW, I had a Pottery Barn rug that smelled too. Hmmmm. Makes you wonder....Anyway, great job Kim!
Kathysue, it is blue and white.

Very nice change. Much more airy and bright!

I love the new color. So much brighter and cheerful now. I also love the first antique you two bought together. gorgeous.
Just so warm and sunny! You just want to sit and have a chat! I love the monogram pillows and you are absolutely right... monograms and the south go hand in hand! I swear I think people in Charleston have their underwear monogrammed!!!! I know the kids do... I am guilty of a cute little white lacy monogrammed bloomers for Jemma!!! I monogramed my first candle! It wasn't great, but it wasn't horrible and now I am addicted! Need a candle in there????? I am your girl!
Oh I just love the transformation. Great job. All of the furniture and accessories are so well done and showcased. Your new wall color is perfect. Hugs, Marty
How do you get your slipcovers so neatly pressed? I had the hardest time with mine! Maybe I just stink at ironing LOL!!~
Kim,
I like the room blue as well but the yellow is fantasatic. You did a beautiful job decorating it, but of course you knew that :) It doesn't even look like the same room! Great job.
I like your new wall color. I think that yellow shows off your blue and white pieces so nicely. Happy Blue Monday.
The changes really makes more perfect...happy blue Monday. Mine is up.

Kim, it's so nice to "meet" you!!We're about 5 minutes from UNC! You must have had an amazing time in Italy-what fun to celebrate a wedding there! Let me know how your daughter-in-law likes the pasta. Most of our recipes are Italian as I tend to blog about what I grew up with. Thanks for visiting!
Wow Kim! you did a wonderful transformation of your dining room! verything looks just beautiful!
It looks great. I love the transformation. I have a hard time picking out yellow paint--you nailed it. Good Job and thanks for stopping by. Congrats on the new arrival.

Wow..what a beautiful room and decorations!
i just love what you have done love the yellow it is so refreshing .you have such an insight to detail i also like how you added the fringe to the chair covers to make them your own:)
Lovely! I love your chandy too!
I just returned a tablecloth to PB..It smelled like oil! When I brought it back the lady said.."Too big, too small, or too smelly?) LOL
Nice to meet you, Kim...watch out for those Atlanta blogger, they are a rowdy bunch! :)
LOVE your dining room redo! The yellow makes it so much more cheerful and inviting! I thought abt painting ours a red but decided it weigh the room down too much so I am going to go with whatever the color is that is one above WholeWheat on the SW card. I am under the weather so my brain cells are not fully functioning! Ha! Yeah, thats it!;)
I LOVE the artwork!! I love whimsical things. What a beautiful room!
Kim I have just discovered your blog and will put it on my list of favs! I too am an empty nester and we are in the process of building a new home. Thank you so much for sharing your great design tips and especially for giving us the paint colors! It helps sooooo much! Beautiful Work!
OH KIM!! These prints have just killed me! When I saw them last night I told myself I'd google them today (It's a snow day here...actually 3 snow days in a row)! Anyway, that's just enough time to get me in trouble. I fell in LOVE with some of these prints. Then...I saw the prices. Ugghhh...!!! Any pointers how to find them at good deals?
By the way, thanks for voting on my Blonde color. I do think that's what I'm going to go with. I kind of think it will clash with my dining room though so I'll probably paint it Blonde too. That room probably needs to be toned down anyway. But as for the black hutch...it's still in the master plan! Oh, and I have apple green paint cards hanging inside it now to ponder on.
Kim what a beautiful dinning room. I love the shade of yellow you chose. But it was the comment on the "smeely rug" that caught my eye. I too had a beautiful rug that began to smell. I blamed the smell on the dogs and had it dry cleaned. The smell came right back. It was driving me crazy. At a friends suggestion I took the rug outside, no easy task as it was wool and 8x10. The smell left the dinning room but now was overwhelming my patio area. A little internet search revealed that some rugs are glued rather than hooked and the glue contains pvc's that never cure and as they oxidize they give off that burnt rubber smell. Mine ended up in a landfill. So I will check my next rug very closely. Good work in your dinning room.
I've been having so much fun browsing your blog. I'm getting lost in it and need to get back to my chores. I'm signing on to follow so that I'll get all your updates.
