New natural box pleated slipcovers to lighten up the brick red sofa.
Changed the darker and heavier pillow covers to lighter ones that I already had stored.
Covered the red chair, too and left the leather chair uncovered
Changed the accessories on the mantel to white potted plants, wicker chargers, green plates, bird house and bird for a fresher and layered display for the warm season. I had all these things.
Antique wicker tray filled with antique and flea market treasures and design books.
The tray is from a local antique store. The shoe form and antlers are from a local flea market
and the old bottles were found many years ago by Mr. Savvy on his childhood home site.
Fern added to the fireplace, which is a southern thing, and flowers added to the coffee table.
I keep forgetting to mention that Mr. Savvy designed and built the mantel all by himself. He also replaced the original white marble tile with grey veining to the new marble tiles I chose. He is very proud of that mantel.
I love the way the room feels now. Don't be surprised if I make some more changes since I may want to change some of the displays on the built-ins with fresher looks. I am sure I will find some things at the antique and flea markets that just may want to come home with me.

Everything looks gorgeous!!
SOOOO pretty Kim. I know what you mean about the influence of blogging. When I pulled out my Easter decorations this year, I cracked up because I had just started blogging this time last year and it was obvious the effect it had on me! Ha!

Kim
Just beautiful, Kim. Really light and airy!

Hi Kim!
I love the slip covers and all your creative vignettes. You do such a good job every time!
Love, Karen
The room looks so bright and fresh! Love all the green touches as well. And I really like adding mementos that have a personal story, like the bottles from your husband's childhood home.
Bright , light and airy. Your room looks lovely - very inviting.
Hi kim, i really love your slip covers!!! Everything looks so nice!I love the changes you made for summer. I bought some slip covers from ebay too.I bought them last year.I wish they had those beautiful pleats, but they don't. They look like you had them made....Kathy
This room turned out lovely- it really has a light, relaxed spring/summer feel now! Makes me want to sit down with a glass of sweet tea and visit!
Fern in the fireplace, very southern savvy, yes M'am. Everything looks wonderful, I could not drink red wine and sit on your couch.
Lovely room...so light looking with the slipcovers.
Kim you made me laugh about blogging...girl I have more dishes and stuff since I started blogging and season decorating items coming out my ears also...Looks wonderful my friend...Love the cleaner fresher look it gave for summer also...Thanks for sharing more of your beautiful home girl...Hugs and smiles Gl♥ria
Very nice Kim! It's so much fun to change things up. I swap out pillows, from fall to summer! Your coffee table set up is really interesting too. I like it! But I really LOVE your mirror over the fireplace. Very nice!
Hi Kim! Oh, I'm drooling here! Everything is just beautiful. Love your new 'spring' look! Thanks for popping in to see my little Carter.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia :)
Your table scape is wonderful. I tend to use to few things. Inspiring.
What a difference the slipcovers made in the whole feel of the room! That is fantastic! I may be getting a new sectional and want to do it in the twill, but I am afraid it won't flow with everything else we have as it all seems sort of formal/traditional. This looks fabulous though and makes me want to do it! Your mantle is gorgeous as always and your coffee table vignette is beautiful. I love those daisies!! You have the magic touch, my friend. The magic touch!
What great slipcovers! I love that look for spring and summer. Great idea!
Kim,
Stopping by from The Shabby Chic Cottage and wanted to say hi. Your blog is fantabulous! I can't believe that you've only been blogging since January...you have a gift girl! Love the spring changeover...very inspiring.

I love the slipcovers.I'm going to check Ebay but I think you got mine! I'm big into "seasoning" a house. We had to get the down comforter back out last night!
Your room looks great..
Looks great! Love the slip covers and pillow, they definitely make your room look light and airy. You mirror on the mantel is lovely as well.
You little Yorkie is too cute. I’m a Yorkie owner as well. My little Parker is a handful but I love him.
I love how the slipcovers and pillows change the whole feel of the room. I also think the winter version is wonderful. Either way your home is gorgeous!

Kim, Yay! We get to see your sofa slip covers! The changes look great! I need to play catch up with my Spring decorating. I've been so busy with Prom dress shopping(both girls now have purchased them) and organizing all the tax info for the accountant!
Kim, it looks great! So fresh and crisp---perfect for summer. Love the pitcher full of daisies, and I think we own all of the same design books!
well now look what you started ebay will be crashing lol
i know every time i come to your lovely home i will be in trouble .the covers are perfect for spring and summer give the room a whole new look.Love the pleats they give a custom look and the pretty pillows are perfect .Iam still debating about the duvet in my head well heck you have birds all over .well so enjoyed the new summer look have a great day
I love it both ways, but I definitely like the lighter look for spring! Love green and white. I think it's a southern thing to slipcover and change seasonally anyway. My grandmother always did it. Then she had houses in Florida and she would being things back and forth constantly. I am still looking for lighter window panels just haven't found the right thing yet. I am definitely removing the Turkish rug from under the dining table for summer, though. Looks great, love it:-)
I love seasonal makeovers and yours is just the look I am going for. Stunning.
Great Change, Kim!!! Let me know how easy or hard it is to keep those clean. I've been thinking about doing that in my sun room, but I am afraid of them getting dirty. I love the look! Nancy
It's beautiful! I can't wait until Spring Break! I'm ready to springify my dark rooms with some new fabrics!
Beautiful....just as I would have expected! I am completely in love with those slipcovers..
Danielle
Everything looks beautiful! Believe me, I totally know how blogging gives you so much inspiration and you want to always change stuff. I am wanting to lighten things up in my house too, especially the living room. You give me lots of great ideas - thanks!!!
Wow Kim, what amazing changes you've made your room looks beautiful. I was about to say I didn't know what the red sofa looked like so I was happy to see your link. How lovely knowing that beautiful red sofa is underneath knowing you can change the look again for the Fall. Everything looks beautiful.
I love your new look...
Kathy :)
I love the fresh new slipcovers! The green stripe and yellow stripe pillows are the perfect pop of spring colour. Your room is very pretty.
So pretty!
After seeing that mantle and all your decorating, I'd say you and Mr. Savvy are a perfect match!! Bring on the warmth! You are ready.
Thank you so much for your sweet encouragement today, Kim. Appreciated very much. ~ Tanna
Why of course ferns in fireplaces, very savvy southern style. Love the tray vignette too!
O, Kim, I am loving your new spring and summer look. I, too, am in the process of changing out a few things for summer. Reds turn to apple greens and area rugs rolled up for the summer. I have lots more to do, tho.
You did a great job on your pretty room..
Come over and have a snack and coffee..:)
This looks so great. I looked at the before red pics and that looked great too. I love your style.
I love the slip covers. I remember as a kid eveyone's Mom put them on the sofas in the summer to lighten up the look and also to cover some worn chairs too. I wish they would have more of a selection of them and ones that fit better too.
Joyce

Hi Kim.
First time visitor and I love what you've done. I looked at your before photos and it seems we decorate similar. So it is interesting to see you "lighten" up and add shabby to your decor. I need a slip cover for a chair and I just might have to try ebay.
My favorite is the yellow crock with the shabby looking bunch of daisys exploding from it. Brilliant!

That looks so nice and summery. Does anyone know if you can slipcover leather furniture??? Or will it just slid all around??

Hello there Kim,
I cannot tell you how much I love what you have done with the lightening and brightening of the accessories of your living room, 'Springtime' decor!.., You likely know 'the feeling' I am about to describe; you are surfing merrily along and then 'it happens'.., The pure delight of discovering something truly exceptional and fabulous!.., My oh my,~ 'wow'! I exclaimed outloud!
Do also pop by for a visit!
Cheers from Wanda Lee @ The Plumed Pen

Hi Kim! What a wonderful room! So light filled and fresh looking!! I see you're a Bunny Williams fan! {Me to!} Fantastic job!
I absolutely adore that mirror! Great job!
Kim,
You have a wonderful home...you are very talented.
Can you tell me where you got the mirror above your mantel? It looks old. I love it.
Thanks,
Sylvia
Kim,
I love your blog! I just discovered it over the weekend and I'm hooked! I also have a lot of green, gold, and red in my own home and am looking to freshenen it up. I have a slipcovered red couch and don't want to pay to have it re-slipcovered. I was wondering what brand your slipcover is and if you have a hard time keeping it from sliding all over the place? I don't want to buy something from e-Bay that I can't return if it doesn't work. I'd rather go by recommendation. Thanks so much for any suggestions :)
Brandi
Brandi, these are the Pottery Barn loose fit slips and they are well made. I am sure they do come out pretty easily. We actually hardly ever sit on those two slipcovered chairs since my husband is always in the leather chair and I am usually in the sunroom when I am not on the computer. My sister had them and she just tucks them back in when they are through at the end of the evening. I think PB sells a kit that you can put down in them to hold it down. Not sure though. Thanks for the comment about my blog.
I LOVE this room! So warm, cozy and inviting.

love the look of the new slip covers and just wanted to offer this tip to you or anyone who chooses to slip cover and item..
before applying the slip to the seat section-- wrap a couple layers of cheap- um I mean inexpensive quilt batting like you can get at walmart over the original cushions- sorta like wrapping a 3 package into 1 large package.. silver tape it underneath:) Then when you put the slip cover on it looks smoother in the seat area...
hugs
Sonny
