Color Change to a Chest and Boring to Better Party #12

This is a teaser picture I gave you last week.

Did you guess what it is? A couple of you did.

Here it is. This is the before shot of the chest in the foyer. I decided I didn't want it green anymore.

I have the green chest behind the sofa in the great room and the coffee table is green, too.

So out came the paint. First I was going to paint it white and distress it.

Then I decided I wanted the blue gray color instead so I used Silvermist by SW.

Then I sanded away. I like to sand in typical spots that will be worn over time such as

the handles

and around key holes

along the legs that may get bumped

Then I brushed on my mocha glaze and took some back off. Love how it stays around the detail of this door.

Then I did an extra step and pulled out my rub n buff and rubbed it on in spots to make

it look like this is another layer of color coming through.

Here they are side by side so you can see the change.

Loving the new color. Wish it was sunny like this today, but no, it is cold and raining.

I am working on another little change to this chest if it works.
