When I showed you the armoire makeover in the guest room I told you I also changed the little decorative suitcase on top.
Here is the original look. I bought this at Home Goods several years ago for only twelve dollars.
It stayed like this for a long time, but I wanted a different look to go with the made over armoire.
I used Old Ochre Annie Sloan chalk paint on the whole case and then painted the details with Old White. Then I taped off for stripes to be added.
I used this red paint pen to fill in between the pieces of tape to make a straight red line.
After letting the paint dry I then covered the whole case with clear wax.
Then I sanded heavily and applied some brown wax, too to make it look old and worn.
This project was easy and only took a day for new worn look.

Lovely idea! I just picked up some old vintage suitcases and wish I could do this, but they are not wooden or hard-cased, but the harder-sided and more porous kind...any suggestions? I would like to change the color as they are a country blue which I don't care for. I would love to change the look! The insides are nice and lined with a purple satin material and big pockets, but wasn't sure. I would use them for decorating and/or craft cases...

Kim, I just got 2 cans of AS paint and both waxes. I just waxed a table I painted and love the product. I just never thought of painting outside or "ON" the box or suitcase!

I agree with Sweet Tea. I need more information about the chalk paint. I have read several posts with everyone loving the chalk paint. I look it up and see that it can only be bought in certain states and areas. I would like to know how to order online and roughly what it costs. Also, about sanding. With chalk paint you dont have to sand, EVER? Great job!
