Bit That Bullet Again

It wasn't too big of a bite. Just a little one. I have had my eye on this wonderful old copper mold on ebay for weeks. I really didn't want to fork out $48 for it, but I succumbed and did. I am glad I did, too. This mold is huge.

I brought it in the sun room just to take some pictures in good light.

See how big it is? I love the aged patina. So much better than the shiny new ones.

Looks like it was well used, too. Nice and black inside.

This side view shows how deep it is. This would make a cool cake, but it will just hang on the wall.

Do you see where the copper is turning green? Gotta love it.

I have moved some pieces around and placed it on this kitchen wall. This is a great find to add to my collection. Now, if I only had more walls for when I find more.

Don't miss my jewelry giveaway here.

Have a wonderful week!

Very pretty! I'm actually baking a poundcake as I write. Now that would be an interesting poundcake. Also, thanks for the tip on the glass canisters. Just arrived last week. Great quality and exactly what I was looking for, too.

Do you remember the days (probably early 80's) when you would see copper stuff every where - people getting rid of it like it was diseased! I used to have some, and I even remember spray painting some of it. If I only knew!

HI Kimmie! I've missed you and see you've been up to lots of things! Painting tables and buying molds. This is such a great one! You know how I love Roosters and this is a cute one. It is so big too! You should bake just one cake in it and show us how the Rooster looks! :) Then we'd all come over for a piece of cake!
Thanks for popping in to see me.
be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)

GREAT OLD MOLD! I wish I had some of my copper pieces back that I gave to my daughter. It was always my metal of choice from the 1970's on...at least for that down-home feel I do love Silver though, too.

That would make a darling cake! xo Diana

My Grandmother had a ton of these and she actually used them for the dreaded Jello salad for the Church pot luck! Wish I had them now... they look so cute on your wall!

That's a really substantial piece. I see why you're glad you finally got it!

It is large, and with such great patina. Sometimes you just have to buy it if it 'speaks' to you.

It is enormous and I love it when it turns green.

Please don't make me want to collect anything else. If I keep writing it, maybe it will work...sigh. Love some copper!

That is such a pretty mold. Do you worry about running out of wall space. I do - can you imagine not having anywhere to put anything new and having to edit the collections. Yikes, not a good thought.

So pretty! I love those copper molds and actually have a few that were my grandmother's. Must be such history there...

Thanks for linking up at A Simply Klassic Home!

Kim, this one is fabulous! Like you, I prefer the aged patina of copper rather than the shiny polished pieces. Love the rooster of course! ;-) I recently found two more for our kitchen ~ a small heart and a larger rectangular one with a heart motif in the center. Fun to add these when one can find them for a good price. ~ Sarah

Good bite, Kim! I have a couple of small copper molds on my pantry wall, but they're new, so they're missing the patina. Wonder what would happen if I actually used them?! Huh?
