Let Me Share A Secret......

2.28.2010

Boy, do I have an addiction a love for pillows. I have them in every room and almost on every chair or sofa or bed. I cannot go into a store  and see a pillow I love and think to myself where can I put this?? The problem then is if I get a new one I usually have to replace another one. Then I have to figure out where to move the old one to and many have been put away. I have a love of many other accessories and I am sure there will be a post on those other addictions collections, too in the near future.

I went all over my house and took pictures of my OCD , I mean love of pillows. All different colors, patterns, shapes and sizes. Solid pillows and monogrammed pillows. You have to have a monogrammed pillow in the south. It is the law! I have several so I am safe. Pillows are a very important part of decorating a room. They are a good way to add a pop of color and a great way to add texture and to warm up a room. Here are a few pictures of my pillow problem collection.

Those are just some of my pillows they are also hiding behind door #1

and door # 2

and there are some hiding in here

and even this one just tossed aside in here

So I ask you do I have an addiction or not?! What do you have an addiction a collection of?

This week I am joining Blue Monday over at http://smilingsally.blogspot.com/ and Mellow Yellow Monday. Please be sure and click on either link and go see what the other participants are showing off this week.

I thank everyone for all the comments I have received and I appreciate getting new ones so please be sure and let me know you stopped by for a visit.

Y'all come back now,

KIM

  1. Your pillows are great! You do have an awesome style with your pillows. I have seen a couple in some catalogs lately I've been eyeing. Actually, I got out my catalog and ink pen and just started circling away, as if that would do me any good! LOL Just like my girls do at Christmas time!! Actually, I think one of the ones I've been checking out may be the one you have tossed in the basket. Thanks for showing us your "collection". :-)

  2. I love all of your pillows! Especially the burlap looking ones and the monogrammed ones. I just spent a few weeks searching for pillows for my living room...you can see what I ended up with here: http://yankeebellehome.blogspot.com/2010/02/fluffing-nest-part-1.html.

  7. Hi Kim,
First, let me thank you for the sweet comments on the post awhile back. I was glad to help, only sorry that it took me so long! We finally got our computer problems sorted out with a new router, whatever the heck that is. But eveything is working great right now, fast and easy, so hurray for that.
Second, I will join you when you go to the next "Pillows Anonymous" meeting! I, too, have them all over the house, and hidden away in weird places because I don't know what else to do with them! (My post tomorrow is on pillows I just made for my girls)
Third, thanks so much for thinking of me and passing on the award. I humbly accept it, but not sure how I will ever manage to pass it on! I will do my best!
See you soon, have a fun week. Congrats on 1 month blogging, you sure did get a lot of followers in such a short amount of time. Keep up the good work!

  9. Kim that sure is a collection when you put it that way!!~ I never realized how many you have! My Mom is like you in the sense she has a lot of pillows everywhere. I have lots but not as many! I would say my new obsession is napkins, I have a lot of those now since doing table settings....

  10. Kim, your pillows are great! Those tasseled rooster pillows look really wonderful on your new breakfast room chairs!
After moving to NC from Southern California I noticed monograms everywhere often wondered what was up. Now I know ... it's a Southern Thing. Great post!

  13. Loving the pillows especially the monograms, the nautical ones, the rooster ones... maybe I am obsessed too! I never buy them though. I like them a lot, but I need to get going! I have a leather sofa and the ones I have tried always seem to slide down it. Any suggestions for that one? It was interesting seeing your monograms. I have started hand-monogramming candles! The big question was does the husband's or wife's initial come first? I see your's comes first. Very interesting! I have read several different things. It seems the wife's first is a more contemporary mode and husband's first is more traditional. One thing even said that you should never separate a man's name even in addressing letters. I have always done Tom and Kathryn F. thinking to put him first, but one etiquette thing said don't do that! I guess you learn something new every day! Sorry for the rambling! Love all your pillows!!!

  14. I love your addiction, I mean, collection of pillows! I have the same "problem" here at my house. I love, love, love pillows!! I like the way I can change the look of a room by just changing the pillows. I also like to add pillows that are unique. I have one in my living room I love that is a picture of one of my husbands relatives wedding which I transferred onto fabric and made into a pillow. Grant K. Gibson just did a post on his blog about a client who hated her sofa. He said it was actually a great sofa it just needed new pillows.

  15. You have a beautiful collection of pillows! I want to get some new pillows and have been on the look out! Every time I walk in a store, I go to the throw pillows...but I don't find what I see in online stores or Etsy. I may need to make some new pillows!

  16. Kim, Thanks for coming to visit. OMG! I love your pillows. Isn't it funny how we karate chop our pillows right in the middle. I do the same thing LOL...I first saw this on HGTV all the designers karate chopped their pillows right down the middle! My addiction (at the moment) is brooches and guess how I display them....On my pillows. Take care Kim and have a blessed Monday

  18. I think I have an addiction to pillows also, Kim, cause I have them in all my closets too because the sofas, chairs and beds cannot accomodate them anymore, lol. I just love how they can change the look of the room just by replacing them. I love your pillows, you have the prettiest prints, colors and monograms. The only monogrammed ones that I have are king size pillow cases so I think I should get some because I live in the south

I thought I was bad with pillow addiction! But I must say, you have some really fabulous selections! And, I am getting a chuckle that you have more in closets!!!

  21. You have some beautiful pillows - something I am in desperate need of - which is odd, because I LOVE them too. I also love anything "beachy". I totally fell in love with your nautical guest room makeover. I could move right in! My home has a touch of the beach in almost every room.

  27. Kim-I was a huge fan of yours on RMS-but I am SOO over that site now since I have found the blogging world and wonderful sites such as yours.
Pillows are one of my addictions as well...can't tell you how many I have stuffed in one of my bedroom closets-yikes!! But I can't help myself when I go into TJ's or Marshalls how I scan the isle for more pillows!! Pillows to me are like shoes to some women-need them in all colors, sizes and shapes.
They can change a entire room from season to season and they are cheap too. NEED MORE PILLOWS!!!!!!

  32. HI Kim-

  36. You are my sister for sure! I miss my pillows...most of them are packed away in big boxes out in the garage right now, but this post has been fun to see all of yours! I do think that maybe monogram pillow intervention is called for in your case... I love love the red everywhere, especially the one with the contrasting piping...is it the same fabric as the pillows? I thought I had enough, but this morning saw some from the new Pottery Barn catalogue (Nester's blog) and am going to try to figure out how to make some of those! Thanks for sharing your obsessions...admitting we have a problem is the first step to recovery, you know!

  37. As you can tell from all the comments, you are so not alone in this addiction! LOL Your pillows are just beautiful! Add me to the next meeting sign-up list of "W.O.O.F" (Women Overly Obsessed with Pillows)! LOL

  38. Ah, Kim, you are most definitely a kindred spirit. I never considered my pillows a collection, but there certainly are many in our house. Love the lab pillow on the blue leather chair. My big collection? Vintage hammered aluminum...and of course there are several others.

  39. I would say you are addicted. I never saw so many pillows in one home before. It does not matter how many you have, they all are very pretty and they are displayed so well. Lovely home.

  40. Me too, girl! I have them stuffed in cabinets because I still love them. They have to rotate seasonally.

  41. Love all your gorgeous pillows! I have got one just like your monogrammed tan and white checked ones. It is up in the attic and I am gonna have to get it down and start using it again. I have a lot of pillows, but probably not as many as you!

    ReplyDelete
  42. And every one of them is gorgeous! I love your pillow "collection".

  45. Kim- I LOVE all of your pillows-especially the monograms! LOVELY! I'm working on a collection of my own-I'm just not getting very far yet. :)

  46. Kim, I don't find this to be an addiction at all. It is just a healthy love for an accessory that can change and rock ones world, Ooops I guess that part about rocking ones world gives it away. I am right there with you. Poor hubby says when I go shopping at Homegoods, no more pillows or lamps. I had out of town company form Los Angeles this weekend and she needed pillows for a window seat. Yeah!!pillow shopping we went and I think we bought 10 pillows one set for the summer and another for the fall/winter. I personally only bought one large pillow for the playroom(good girl, Kathysue).

  47. I Love your pillow addiction..No way could i choose a favorite as they are all beautiful...

  48. Great pillows! I don't feel bad now that I know others share my "collection" tendencies. I tend to collect old ladders too. I have them inside and on the deck and in the garden...my husband just shakes his head when I bring a new one home.

  50. Kim, so glad you enjoyed my post on St. Simon's. It is a great place to visit and live I think. Dh had family that lived there for years but moved away about 4 years ago or so. I'd retire there if I could.

  53. Great pillows! Do you make those monogrammed pillows, they are so pretty! I'm from the South and only have one pillow with a monogram, and it's only one letter, an "A," does that count? Actually, I've lived here in FL for 44 years, so that might save me! ;-)

    Your home is beautiful!

    Katherine

P.S. - I'm going to participate in Mellow Yellow Monday this time.
