Welcome to the 2nd Before and After party. I look forward to what you have to show this week. First let me show you my latest paint transformation.
This table is an antique we purchased several years ago at a flea market and it had been moved from spot to spot around the house.
I love the details of this table, but I am sure no one has even noticed them.
Bailey chewed the top of this piece when she was a puppy. Bad girl!
I decided to paint this piece white with the brown glazing. I love how the details stand out now.
I used Sherwin Williams Ivorie paint and Valspar Mocha glaze. Then I waxed the top with Minwax finishing paste wax.
I realized after I posted this that I made a mistake. I did not use the Valspar Mocha glaze this time. I mixed an umber tint in some plain glaze by Behr.

Now it actually shows up between the chairs.
Now show me your makeovers. It can be an old or new post. If you don't have before shots you can just describe the before. I have forgotten to take before shots plenty of times.
Now for the rules:.
1.Make sure you link your before and after URL and not just your blog.

You are the painting QUEEN!!! Miss KIm!!! I hope you are having a great day!!!
ReplyDeleteLove ya!
Jennifer
THanks for hosting!!
And now the detail of the wood shows up perfectly! I sure wish I had your know-how and confidence with a paint brush. A real transformation. Your new party has made me very industrious lately! Thank goodness something did.
ReplyDeleteBrenda
It looks fabulous Kim! Enjoy your very successful party...I really enjoyed looking at some of the features too.
ReplyDeleteKim, I love this table and it is just stunning painted white. So pretty. Thanks for hosting such a fun party. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteWow, Kim! That table does have some wonderful details! I love the new paint color...fabulous! Happy week!...hugs...Debbie
ReplyDeleteYes, Jennifer has given you the honor of being the painting QUEEN and I agree. That table is fabulous!! I have no link this week but I'm happy to browse....
ReplyDeleteOh....love that table painted. I linked up tonight...missed it last week but not this week. I'm happy your linky party is doing so well.
ReplyDeleteI love this Kim. I need to distress the chest at the foot of our bed. I like how this looks.
ReplyDeleteI managed to do a mini before and after today. We are at the lake. I added that post, plus the back porch before and after from the other day. So two entries this week.
My gosh Kim, you have done it again! I'm ready to get in my car and drive to GA just so I can see all of your projects in person. You have definitely inspired me to redo some of my pieces. My project this week is a little silly, but I hope you enjoy it!
ReplyDeletexo, Andrea
Oh Kim! I kind of held my breath when you were describing that beautiful old antique table...and wondered if you'd ever dare put a paint brush to it. I see you did!! I love it. The details really pop out now. My son refinished an old side table kind of like that for me for my birthday last year (he rescued it from the garage). I didn't have the heart to tell him that I had planned to paint it white. He even had to fashion 2 missing pieces from the two that were existing...and it turned out beautifully. I love yours. I just jotted down the name of that glaze because I wanted to pick some up. Otherwise I was going to scour your past posts tonight looking for it! See...sometimes things just turn out right. And..I have never used the Minwax finishing paste wax either. I had the can in my hand and put it back...bad me. I have 2 or 3 projects to get at on my next round of days off. I head back to work tomorrow!<{ Diana
ReplyDeleteWell done, what a transformation! =) ~Liz
ReplyDeleteHi there Kim! I am all linked up! Thanks so much for hosting~ your party is so much fun! I love that table in it's new coat of paint and shabby too btw! :)
ReplyDeletePretty table, Kim!...Christine
ReplyDeleteWhat great sounding paint names! You are sooo good at this! So beautiful now, it looks ancient and mysterious. I'd have it in a heart beat. So weird what paint will do for a piece. Fabulous job!
ReplyDeleteThat looks fantastic Kim! You brought that piece back to life. That gothic style looks perfect with the aged white paint. Very romantic.
ReplyDeleteSherry
That table looks so pretty. I love the contrast between the chairs. Poor Bailey, she's not a bad girl... anymore:)
ReplyDelete-Rene
I am so excited! I linked up for this week! I love what you did with the table! It really pops in the room now! Thanks for the fun, girlfriend! ♥
ReplyDeleteIt looks fabulous Kim!!! I love it to pieces.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Penny
Most definitely better! Nicely done!
ReplyDeleteAnother wonderfully executed project from you. The details of the wood were fabulous on their own, but, as you said, just didn't stand out like they do now. I know a lot of people are reluctant to paint wood, but this project illustrates perfectly why so many do it anyway. (Oh, and hi. Have I mentioned my recent new(ish) follower status here? :)
ReplyDeleteWow, you've done it again! The table looks great. I wish I had your nerve, for some reason painting furniture scares me. I've got an old piece out in the shed I've been meaning to experiment on, but haven't gotten around to it yet. Now it's getting too cold. Maybe next Spring.
ReplyDeleteHi Kim, I love the table painted!! The glazing looks fantastic.
ReplyDeleteKathy
The glaze makes the white work so well. I put these colors/glaze/wax into my notepad so I can paint my buffet this color eventually.
ReplyDeleteReally like the table redo - nice job!! Thanks for hosting again this week. You are appreciated.
ReplyDeleteThe table turned out beautifully! You have gotten this glazing thing down to a science! Thanks for hosting this party! I am loving it!

ReplyDeleteThanks so much for hosting Kim and for the invite to join in! I just linked up then.
ReplyDeleteKim,
ReplyDeleteYou do the best painting jobs. The table looks great!!!
What a difference. I asked Don about the table we have here in Florida but he said it's veneer and it wouldn't do well with that treatment. I would love the lighter, beach cottage feel here.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous table Kim!! The details really pop out now.
ReplyDeleteKim,
ReplyDeleteLooks great! I just love the affect that glaze adds to a piece of furniture! The detail really pops!
Thanks for hosting a fun party.
Wendy
You are the Queen of Painting Perfection! This "after" is such a treasure. It was hiding under that wood stain. Really beautiful. Thanks for listing the paint and glaze. I am painting my sofa table after Thanksgiving. I'll make sure I join your meme!

ReplyDeleteHI Kim-
ReplyDeleteI agree 100% with Yvonne above - you are the queen of painting perfection. Where do you find the Valspar glaze? The Home Depot and Lowes in my area don't have it.
My best- Diane

ReplyDeleteKim, I would so love you to get a hold of my big old welch dresser!! You do such awesome work!! Sorry, I haven't had time to try to come up with a B & A for today's party, but I'm enjoying seeing the others.
ReplyDeleteYour table turned out beautifully. I bought some of that glaze and am going to get my courage up and do our bar area cabinets. You make it look so easy {and i'm sure I'll find that it's not quite that easy:-) } Thanks for hosting a fun party.
ReplyDeleteI stopped in my tracks when I saw this redo. I like how you used the brown glaze to bring out the details! I liked the before but I "love" the after. Nicely done!
ReplyDelete~Michelle

ReplyDeleteI love it!
I really have got to get in on your party!
Take care,
Lisa
Your table turned out beautifully, Kim~ it really does stand out better now!
ReplyDeleteIt looks great. This is one of those cases where my husband would kill me if I wanted to paint it! The only thing I could have posted for this today was the before pile of laundry from the trip and the smaller pile at the end of today:) Don't you wonder how things are such a mess when you take a trip?
ReplyDeleteThis table is absolutely gorgeous! Love it!
ReplyDeleteIt looks fabulous Kim! I like the colors you chose. It really does make a difference in the sitting area.
ReplyDelete~ Tracy
