Thanks so much for all of you who joined my party last week. 114 wow! Since it was mostly Christmas decor I just couldn't pick certain ones to feature because everyone's Christmas decorations are special. When I get more before and afters I will do a feature post.
All Christmas posts are still welcome all month!!
Now on to this week's party. Several weeks ago I asked for some help making a decision on a new light fixture for my sitting room.
This is what I was dealing with before. Yuck, the outdated ceiling fan.
And here is the new one taken last night. I did not pick any of the ones I had posted about.
I kept looking and found this one and I knew it was the one. Well, maybe not just like that. I always second guess my decisions, but this is one I am happy with. The price of less than $300 made it right, too. Merry Christmas to me!
Here is a closer look. Oil rubbed bronze, even though the site did not call it that, and nine lights.
Here it is with the lights off.
The good thing is this is hung much lower and I can get on a ladder and dust it when needed.
I know a lot of people don't like shades on a chandy, but these came with this one and so far I like them on better than off. Who knows I may try them off later.
Now it's time for you to show me whatcha got!

It's just beautiful Kim...I love the photo of it from outside, that just has to look stunning! I like the shades too!
ReplyDeleteLove it! Inquiring minds want to see how you got up there to hang that lovely chandy! I have an ugly fan too but can't figure out how to get a ladder up there. :)
ReplyDeleteKim, you have wonderful instincts. That is the PERFECT chandy for that space. You must love looking up at it!!
ReplyDeleteThe chandelier is the perfect size, scale, finish, everything AND a perfect Christmas present. Sally
ReplyDeleteI just found your blog last night..I am very meticulously going through every blog you've posted..I am in heaven! I have been traveling almost every week for work for 2 years..and truthfully, I had forgot how fun it is to gather a twig, feather and string to build my nest! You have re-awakened my sleeping self. Many thanks Kim....seriously.
ReplyDeleteakarudd, my husband leaned a very tall ladder against the slope of the ceiling. He did it all. I just watched.
ReplyDeleteKim, Beautiful choice. This would have been my favorite. The price is right, the style is gorgeous and the proportion is perfection. You must be thrilled. And how lovely that it makes it's debut in your beautifully decorated room, casting a soft light on your more-than-beautiful tree!
ReplyDeleteI did join you! Now I am off to see the other participants!
Thanks for the invite and for hosting!
xo Yvonne
I know I say "love" a lot, but ... well ... I LOVE it !! I'm so glad you went with the layered chandie. It fills that space up beautifully! I know you must be thrilled! And, trust me ... nothing in your house could ever be "boring" (you might have to rename your linky party), which I plan on joining in just a minute! Thanks so much for hosting ... I look forward to being inspired by everyone. Happy Holidays, Becca
ReplyDeleteIt's really pretty! I love oil rubbed bronze! We replaced lots of lights in our house but I can't convince the hubby to replace the bedroom ceiling fan!!

Ohhh I was wondering when you were going to post the new chandelier- it looks just gorgeous Kim! Give that man of yours a big hug for job well done. I'm working on a new post but not ready yet, so I will be a little late but will be back to join in soon.. probably tomorrow :)
ReplyDeleteLooks fantastic Kim! I won't be joining this week. I am in the middle of helping both the boys with projects of their own...gotta run!
ReplyDeleteLove your new, elegant light. Re the shades--I love them. You have the option of doing something different down the road when you want a change.
ReplyDeleteBest,
Susan
The new chandy is very pretty. Makes me want to go and yank all of my ceiling fans down. Thanks for hosting the linky party (in case you did not see my apology and manners post). Merry Christmas.
ReplyDeletei am so glad you kept looking and found this one looks like it was made for the room.....love it
ReplyDeleteIt really is a great choice, Kim. Another virus has hit my computer so no posting of pics for me :(. Ordered an ereader with wifi and sd card reader. It will fit in my purse. I will see how it works out.
ReplyDeleteKim, it's simple yet elegant. Commands attention but is easy on the eyes. I like the shades and bear in mind that they help push the light downwards towards the room where it is needed. I love that you have hung it lower too. Very cool. Expensive looking too!!!
ReplyDeleteThat looks lovely Kim.
ReplyDeleteKim it is really beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteKim it's absolutely beautiful and looks like it was made for your room!
ReplyDeleteKat :)
Wow! What a big change! That really makes a huge impact on that room! I love it!
ReplyDeleteLacy
Hi Kim!
ReplyDeleteI love your chandelier, it's perfect. And yes, I like the shades. I sometimes take mine off just for a different look.
If you open a booth it would be nice to have a friend or someone you know to mentor you. It is lots of fun but it can also consume you as well. Good luck on your decision.
hugs
Sissie
Love the new chandy about as much as I love my new ceilings! Kim, you won my blogaversary!
ReplyDeleteI hate to miss anything..I just linked an old post, hope that is OK:)
ReplyDeleteThat is stunning! The difference it makes is amazing. Definately a boring to better item.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! And I am so impressed that you will clean the shades! I just figure too high for the dust to be seen!!
ReplyDeleteIt looks wonderful and as always I enjoyed every photo! Have a great week :)
Wendy

ReplyDeleteKim, this looks to be the perfect choice. Love the view through the front window. It's so elegant. And wow, your tree is amazing. It's huge! Ho w tall is that tree? You must have been on a ladder to decorate that one.
ReplyDeleteKim, The new chandy looks perfect in your room and I love it with the shades. You picked a great one!
ReplyDeletexo,
Sherry
Kim, it is perfect! Always amazing the difference a light fixture can make!
ReplyDeleteGreat choice on the chandelier! It's perfect for the room. I like the shades too. Usually, I like chandeliers without but these look really good on.
ReplyDeleteI am lovin' your new chandelier! I love the shot taken from outside, too! Clever! Oh...I am so in need to replace some light fixtures, but when I go look, I am so overwhelmed!! Yours is just beautiful!! Thanks for hosting, too!!

Joanne
Kim...it's perfect! Well done. It so suits the style of the room and the space.
ReplyDeleteLOVE IT!!! it's even better than those you posted!... and the price, is awesome.
ReplyDeleteWow that was worth waiting for! The look from the outside is so dramatic! Doesn't it make you feel so great when something comes together like that!
ReplyDeleteLove it!! Looks perfect from the outside looking in!! Sorry, no party for me this week. I have nothing but Christmas to share!! Nothing worth a before and after! Going to the chiropractor now for my back! Have a great day.
ReplyDeleteI love the shades on the chandy. It's gorgeous. I think most chandys look a bit naked without a shade. Thanks for hosting the party this week. I know how busy you and everyone is during this time of year so I appreciate all you are doing.
ReplyDeleteKim, I love your new light and I love the shades. Looks beautiful through the arched window from outside. It's just perfect!
ReplyDeleteVery nice Kim! It looks fantastic. :)
ReplyDeleteLovin' it! It's perfect.
ReplyDeleteI love your new chandelier! It really enhances the room. I think you made a great choice. I like the shades on it because it fits the room with it's library feel. It makes for softer lighting. I don't think it would work as nicely without the shades. I know you're enjoying it at the holidays.
ReplyDeleteYour chandy is gorgeous! So much better than the ceiling fan. I love shades on the chandy.

Gosh, you did a fantastic job choosing your chandelier. It has beatutiful lines and the scale is perfect for the space. How gorgeous is the view of it through your window?! I like it with the shades on, too. It looks a lot more than $300... well done!!

ReplyDeleteHi Kim...
ReplyDeleteGirlfriend, I love, love, LOVE your new chandelier...it's absolutely gorgeous and sooo perfect for your beautiful sitting room! Ohhh...and it looks fabulous shining through your big, beautiful window!!! I'm so happy that you found "just the right one"! I know that to some, it may seem like an easy decision but there are so many beautiful things out there! I'm like you...I am always trying to second guess everything! hehe! But you definitely made the right choice! Your sitting room is sooo beautiful all dressed up for Christmas! Thank you for sharing it and your new chandelier with us today!

I love the new light fixture! Definitely much better than that ceiling fan! You home looks like it's all set for Christmas :)
ReplyDeleteLove the new fixture! I have a ceiling fan that needs updating myself :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks for reminding me about your party. There are so many on the web, it's hard to keep up with them. I always love your home and everyone has such lovely things this time. Well, all the time, but you know what I mean.
ReplyDeleteI like the shades on your chandy. If it was dripping with crystals, I don't always think the shades work, but I think this one was meant to have them.
I love the way the chandy looks from outside, such a homey feel to it. It is fabulous! Amazing what a difference changing the lighting does to a room, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteDefinitely looks spectacular and made a big difference. I need to update ceiling fans too, but I do like them...especially in the summer. LOVE the oil rubbed bronze finish. Love the antlers over the sofa too!
ReplyDeleteNancy
I think that chandelier would be mad to be called a light fixture - ha!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely way more grand than that!
What a neat linky party. If I had any decor going on other than clutter I would totally link up with you.
Instead I'll just say...lovely as always.
Thanks for linking to Alpahbe-Thursday.

I am replacing outdated light fixtures in a few dats, You have given me some ideas!
ReplyDeleteHi Kim-
ReplyDeleteBetter late to the party then not showing up at all. 'Tis the season to be busy. Your home looks so beautiful. Your photos are great. Do you take them with the camera you got a few months ago - a Canon?
My best- Diane

ReplyDeleteAn immediate improvement!
Definitely a good choice! Thanks for the peek from the outside too. :)
