I can scratch off one more project for the guest room. I have one more and then it will be finished!
I took this picture that I had put away in storage and completely transformed it. I purchased this
for only ten dollars a couple of years ago at Home Goods on the clearance aisle.
Here are all the products I used.
First I painted the frame white using the Behr paint I had left over from the dresser project.
The color is called cotton knit.
I sanded several spots to age it. Then I polished it with Minwax finishing paste wax.
I mod podged a piece of burlap I had over the painted canvas.
Bought the N from Hobby Lobby for half price last week and painted it green.
Glued it to the picture with liquid nails. Then I glued the trim around the edge with fabric tac glue
just to finish off the edge and dress it up a little.
The finished product. I could not get a good clear photo with this horrible dark dreary weather.
I wanted to share this email that Shari sent me today after I featured her bathroom and vanity makeover from last week's party. If you want a chance to be featured and more traffic get those projects linked up.
Kim!

What can I say Kim, you have done it again. This project turned out gorgeous and who would have thought it was an old picture. I need to get my creative juices flowing again :)
ReplyDeleteThanks again for hosting this great party and for your continual inspiration.
Beautiful ~ what a great idea~ Thanks for the inspiration ;-)
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute and thrifty project, Kim! And thanks so much for hosting!
ReplyDeleteThe frame looks fabulous with your new paint color and you are having way too much fun with Mod Podge. Great job. I just have a very small entry this week, hope it doesn't get me kicked out. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting the party because it is great exposure for all of us. I liked the old picture, but I like how you updated it to make it more modern too. I especially like what you did to the frame. I am also working on a picture frame redo. Need to do a few finishing touches, but I'm hoping to have it up by next week. Know what you mean about the weather. Been too dark to take pictures here too. Tomorrow I am dragging a natural light lamp out for pictues. Ugh!
ReplyDeleteI am so glad you gave the products you used! I have a stack of wooden frames that need a makeover! I almost got rid of them, but now I think I will see if I can make them look this good! This looks great, Kim! My little boring to better is a corner makeover to make valentines!
ReplyDeleteI just found your blog from Room Remix and I love your style...especially since I'm from the GA too!
ReplyDeleteWow, what a great transformation! I am so impressed as to how you found something in the clearance aisle, and then you came up with this great idea to transform it. Wish I was that talented!

Great transformation Kim, I would never have thought to cover the photo so I probably would have walked right past this gem at HG. Your projects give such great ideas to think outside the box. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI love what you did to that frame. I'm stock-piling some of your painting ideas for when we move into a different house. I sure hope you don't mind that I took liberties in what I linked to your party. But, really, what could be a better example of boring (waiting, waiting, waiting for a baby) to better (adorable baby finally getting here)?
ReplyDeleteCAS
Hi Kim, I love the frame it looks great!I love all the textures.
ReplyDeleteKathy
Yikes,
