Change is Good

Remember this green chest which was my first paint and glaze project? 

This is what it looked like before the green paint and glaze. This was my second blog post. So many changes since then.

It looks different in this light, but is really the same. I almost forgot to stop and take a picture before I started this project. This project was kind of a whim. I was walking by it and then that light bulb came on again!

This is a close up of the detail before I started changing it up.

I decided to play some more with my new love, chalk paint. I was going to just highlight the details, but then I started doing a little more.

Next thing I knew I had added the chalk paint to the drawer fronts, too.

Then I added a coat of clear wax. Hard to tell in the photo, but the wax darkens the color. 

The chalk paint color is Old Ochre like I used on the little table I bought.

Oh, I almost forgot, I sanded some, too. This chalk paint is so easy to sand.

After the clear wax I used a dark brown wax and then the clear wax again to achieve this layered look.

I just noticed I put the bottom handle on upside down. Oops.

I love the new look. Even Frenchier. Is that a word? It is now.

I wish you could see this in person. Photos don't do it justice.

I can't wait to get my next color of chalk paint so I can play some more.
