Here is the before with the old brown color.
Here is the new look. I cropped it so you couldn't see the rest of what I worked on this weekend.
I used the same Chateau Gray chalk paint that I used on the sideboard.
Actually I painted the mantel in the Old White chalk paint first and then I said nope and painted over it.
You can see how I heavily distressed and then used brown and clear waxes.
I love how the mix of colors really highlight the pattern in this trim.
Mr. Savvy built this mantel all by himself when we built the house. He had never built one before.
I added some live Kimberly Queen ferns to this old planter and placed it in the fireplace for the warmer months. Kimberly Queen is fitting don't ya think? My name is Kimberly and I am the queen of the house. grin
Now I want to see what you have to share with us this week!

I love your mantel..the color..just PERFECT for that beautiful room. You are sooo good at what you do, Kimbo.
ReplyDeleteHi Kim, I already commented about what a great job you and Mr. Savvy did on this, but now I have a question... does the Chateau Gray chalk paint have a green tint to it or is it just my lap top screen that makes it look like it does? I love the color, and I'm looking for a mossy green and would hate to order the wrong color chalk paint.
ReplyDeleteLisa
I love the new mantel. It has sort of a greenish cast to it doesn't it or is that just my computer?
ReplyDeleteYou just amaze me. I'm so impressed that you had the courage to tackle your mantel! Of course, it's just paint; I know that. . . but I doubt I'd ever have had the gumption to try this project. But yours turned out great! It looks beautiful, just like everything you do.
ReplyDeleteI'm very, very late for your party. . . I just finished my project this afternoon. But I'm so happy to join you here!
