I put an old quilt made by Mr. Savvy's mother on the ground and then started adding different items. This is a vintage picnic basket that I purchased from a flea market last year for $10. I placed a couple of red checked napkins inside and let them hang over the edge.
Using my vase in a different way as a utensil holder.
Red flatware from Target last year.
White charger, dollar tree plate that I purchased last year and red checked napkins.
Wicker food cover. Must keep the bugs off.
Couple of pillows to sit on.
Lantern hung on the tree since this is a late picnic.
Now we just need a cool breeze and some food.
Maybe I should have said picnic for three!
I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday weekend!

Kim, me too......I have one child and we've been empty nesters for some time, but I still think on school days schedule. School out, starts, vacation......now I have a little grandson so everything is back on schedule. I love your picnic. You have such a flair for everything you do. Even though its just the mister and me this weekend, and I don't have a pond maybe I'll set up a little picnic on the patio. Thanks for the inspiration.
ReplyDeleteHappy Memorial Day weekend.....

I wish I could bottle up all your quaintness and Southern flair so I could bring it here to dreary Chicago.
ReplyDeleteThis picnic is so adorable, if it only wasn't constantly raining here I'd do the same (only probably with not the same panache)!
Happy Memorial Day!

Adorable setting for a picnic! So patriotic - and what a beautiful day :) Have a blessed Memorial Weekend!
ReplyDeleteOh Kim, it's just lovely! Me and my sweetie do a dinner picnic at 'Concerts in the Garden' put on by the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra every weekend starting June 3rd through July 4th. I always pack our favorite fare in a vintage picnic basket and bring chilled champagne (my sweetie’s favorite) and we dine and listen to the music under the stars at the Fort Worth Botanic Gardens. It's our way of celebrating the beginning of summer. Have a happy and safe Memorial weekend
