First thing I did was grab this picture and placed it in front of the mirror to give a layered look.
Next I placed my large sea fan slightly behind the picture.
I grabbed this little fellow from my hoarding stash and placed the dried seaweed on the stand.
On the other side I placed a lantern and my stand with the coral piece.
In the lantern I placed a battery operated candle with some twine netting and a starfish and shell. I placed some more loose seashells between the lantern and coral.
Added a starfish and shell to the coral.
I love this water color of the light house on St. Simons Island where I lived for three years when I was a young child. We go back and visit occasionally. Such a pretty place.
Have a wonderful holiday weekend!

the look is awesome. watercolors prints are so intriguing to me. they're so tranquil. maybe is the muted colors and their flow. your collections of shells and is divine, but my fave of the whole mantelscape is the lantern. the texture of the twine...Perfect!
ReplyDeletehave a blessed holiday weekend :)
Kim, you sure know how to pull a vignette together in a flash. That mantel would have taken me a week to figure out. It looks great, my favorite is the water color you layered next to the mirror. Its gorgeous, and you lived there! That is so special. Great mantle.......

As always, Kim girl, this is so pretty. A killer mantel, for sure!
ReplyDeleteLots of great ideas, Kim. Love the watercolor of St.Simons and the lantern. You've inspired me again to try to make a mantelscape with my mantel. Mine is one of those places I don't like in my house because it's very 80s. I don't want to bore you with that story. I just need a carpenter. lol
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend,
Babs

Hugs,
Marie
I'm loving it Kim! The lantern is so gorgeous -would love to feature it on my blog! I'm curious about the dried coral. I found a few very similar looking ones, but they won't really dry and harden.
