Here is the little cupboard that was on the wall in the kitchen for years. Do you recognize it? No?
How about now? Remember when this was on the wall? I took these books out so I could close the doors and show you what it looks like. Now let's look at how it is displayed on the chest.
I have opened the doors and filled it with some collectibles that I have been picking up on my hunts here and there. The little crock on the bottom came from the same store as my green scale last week. Only ten dollars and I love the black writing on it.
Some of my vintage leather bound books in a stack with a magnifying glass atop.
One of my bovine and nest on the middle shelf.
My largest old demijohn sets to the side.
Another stack of vintage books on the top shelf.
Piece of seaweed or whatever it is beside the books.
A close up of the way the drawer is painted.
Still have my tray of shells covered with a cloche and you can see my chalkware collie and more old books through the glass.
The king of bulls stands tall on top.
Do you have something that could be used in a new way?

What a wonderful place for that! It looks great there and I love all of the items you have fillled and surrounded it with.

I heart your camera.. and the little shelf. Your pictures are fabulous.
ReplyDeleteKim, your little vingette with the cabinet shelf looks very pretty.
ReplyDeleteI love the cow and the bull and the entire look.
I have the same problem in my home, too much open space and no walls. We just have to create our own walls! LOL!
hugs
Sissie
Looks great! I would have never thought to place it there. You have such a good eye for decorating.
ReplyDeleteKim, I like this. I have some small shelves like this that I like to place on top of a table rather than hanging them. I'm sure I have things stored away that I could use with a different purpose. You have me thinking. Thanks! ~ Sarah
ReplyDeleteThat looks perfect Kim. I do remember that piece in your kitchen LONG ago.
ReplyDeleteKim love it...
ReplyDeleteI remember that piece in your kitchen Kim. It looks great the way you have it displayed. Martina

Wendy
I love being able to repurposed something from another room or closet! I get so tired of reading that you always have to start over and have the latest and greatest in fashion and home decor.
ReplyDeleteWhatever happened to buying quality items and keeping them?
That is one of my favorite things about your blog, you collect and move things around and repaint but I rarely see you throwing things away and starting anew.
Love the little shelf and all your collections.
So adorable Kim! =) ~Liz
ReplyDeleteHi Kimmie! I love that little cabinet and it looks so cute where you've placed it! Love how you've dressed the inside too! You're just good!
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
I just love it when people think outside the (little wooden chest) box! How cute and clever. As always, your house is just gorgeous. Swoon. Swoon. And triple SWOON!!!!!
ReplyDeleteLori Lucas
Love it all! I showed my hubby your blog and he said "Now she knows what she's doing"! That is high praise, by the way.
ReplyDeleteOK, I seriously need you to COME HERE and help me with some vignettes!!!1 This is awesome, it even makes the chest look better (if that was possible)!!!! You are SO good at this! You have a gift. XO, Pinky
ReplyDeleteJust gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI love when you can find a NEW place for an OLD piece!! Love the change! Love, Me www.youaretalkingtoomuch.com
ReplyDeleteThat looks great in it's new spot! Yes, I have BOXES of things to repurpose or just find them new homes -- teehee!

The cupboard looks good how you have it arranged on the table. I like how the lamp and the dresser have the same greens.

Looks great Kim. My eye immediately went to the drawer. Thanks for doing a close-up.
ReplyDeleteLooks so pretty in it's new spot! With all your pretty things on it! :)

What a great little shelf. I have a similar one and would have never thought of putting it on a side table like that. Very cute...love it!
ReplyDeleteIt just goes to show - don't get rid of anything too quickly!
ReplyDeleteIt looks perfect in its new home and you've styled it so beautifully! x Sharon
ReplyDeleteGreat idea, Kim! Love how you accessorized it ... isn't it fun to shop in your "hoarders" room (as YOU call it). :)
ReplyDeleteI love layering like you did Kim. A cabinet on a table is a great idea and gives lots more room for displaying treasures and you have some great ones. I have a little cabinet very similar to this in my booth. It hasn't sold yet. And I am thinking like you. It would be sweeter sitting on a kitchen counter filled with spices instead of on a wall. Maybe I'll send my customers to your blog. :)
ReplyDeleteI love this arrangement. It really looks fab, I was trying to get a closer peek at the lamp~it looks really cool.
ReplyDeleteCute way to reuse your cabinet and lovely vignette. I really like interchangeable elements.
ReplyDeleteHi Kim,
ReplyDeleteWhat a perfect size cabinet, I like it with the doors open and the shelves full of your collections! The Bovine is so sweet!
All the Best,
Christine
Hi Kim!
ReplyDeleteI actually am using a 100-year old kitchen cabinet in my office on the wall next to my desk with baskets inside for storage! Hanging it up tonight. (I need my hubby's muscle :)
Love your ideas and the vignettes! You always inspire me, girl!
~me
Kim it is precious. I love the way you displayed it open like a little shopping vignette.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful chest too!
Yes I do... I have a small cabinet that I purchased in Arizona ten years ago... it would be perfect here in my office to hold whatever my heart pleases, but Hubby is using it in the basement for tool purposes... I many just need to steal it away though and find something else for his basement.. LOL Men... gotta love 'em.
ReplyDeleteI love the old books, Kim! And it really looks nice! I need to rework the things in my china cabinet to make it look neater! One of these days! lol Enjoy your day! ♥
ReplyDeleteKim, I just love everything you do woman!! Looks really good!
ReplyDeleteI'm using everything I have at this moment, but I really want your little cabinet :) Love those roosters on the front! Now I want to run to the thrift store, so excuse me ...

Lovely!!! You did such a great job!

Why, yes...I think I will try some of that repurposing myself!
ReplyDeleteHugs~
I'm sure I do, but getting ready to move in two months, I'm not starting decorating now! Though it's killing me seeing all these pretties on blogs. Looks totally different; love it, Kim! You're getting into those bovines. Sort of like the antlers. Good collections!
ReplyDeleteBrenda
THIS is about as authentic FRENCH as you can get. Love it so much I wanna marry it. I just pinned a couple of these beautiful photos. Every time I pin something this pretty, it gets repinned a lot of times so your photos are going 'round the world, as we speak. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat job.
That looks cute there! As for having things tucked away that might have other uses, yes...lots of them. I'm always grabbing things that were meant for something else!
ReplyDeleteI love it! I actually need one like that in my office that I'm redecorating for a little bit of storage. Have a great evening1
ReplyDeleteLooks great, Kim! I'd like to go shopping in your house :)
ReplyDeleteWell how awesome is that?? Looks fabulous! I get these epiphanies in the middle of the night to put something I have stored away somewhere else!
ReplyDeleteI love the gnarly seaweed, driftwood thingy.....
Lou Cinda :)
Lovin it Kim!
ReplyDeleteLooks terrific.
You have such great items and I want ten of those great English crocks.... fantastic in a collection. Love the black imprint.
