I think the new color plus Old White on the details and the addition of the clear and dark waxes has given this bench more of an old French antique look.
This is the sneak peek picture again. This is before adding the waxes. Now take a look at the next picture.
You can see the difference the waxes make plus I added just a few spots of gold with rub n buff here and there.
Here you can see the gold added on the white.
Just playing with pillows.
So do you like her new do?
Beautiful new do Kim and the pillows look great!

ReplyDeleteI do, I do, like her new do, Kim! The French Linen is a nice color, but I really love how the Old White brings out the details.
ReplyDeleteStunning Kim. I wish you could come and paint some of my pieces. When I sew I know exactly what I'm doing but give me a paint brush and I'm lost. You should go into business. You've got an eye for doing just the right thing. Love the pillows too...
ReplyDeleteThe new treatment kicks it up a notch, Kim. I love it.
ReplyDeletebeautiful! I just found another piece on Kijiji, and nearly jumped for joy....a settee, just like yours! It's 2 hours away, so I may have some convincing to do with Hubs =) I love your chair!

What a gorgeous piece and I love that you painted the cane! This has convinced me that I am painting the top cabinets white and bottom the linen color. Love it!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful bench. Thanks for sharing. Have a great day.
ReplyDeleteI think it is much "richer" looking, Kim. It really made quite a difference in the way it looks~xo Diana
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely love it! I have to try Annie Sloan soon and it is amazing what a little Rub 'n' Buff will do - I like the silver & gold combination effect, brings out the details even more.
ReplyDeleteSo pretty! I love that ASCP! Like the hints of gold from the Rub n Buff too! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteKim, this is a gorgeous beanch. Looks like it should have always been that gorgeous shade!

ReplyDeleteLooks great :) Laurel@chippingwithcharm
ReplyDeleteKim, I love her new do! Actually I've been in love with this beauty since you first shared her. I think every home should have such a bench for special pillows. Ours isn't nearly this attractive, but it does hold a few seasonal pillows. ;-)
ReplyDeleteLove the stencil pillows! Is the rooster one new?
~ Sarah
I do like it! You're getting to be a painting pro!
ReplyDeleteThe bench came out amazing. You did such a good job...
ReplyDeleteLove it! Can I have it for my house?
ReplyDeleteKim, I have always loved your bench and if you ever get tired of it please send it my way. She looks great with the new color.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Sherry
Gorgeous Kim!!!!
ReplyDeleteTHAT is one stunning bench, Kim! You did an amazing job with the chalk paint. Two questions for you: When you did the embossed parts with white paint, did you have to paint those separately from rest of the bench with a tiny brush...? And: I'm having issues with blending the dark wax correctly. Any tips? Thanks!
ReplyDeletexoxo laurie
Kim,
ReplyDeleteHer new do is fabulous. What a beautiful bench. I love how the wax really changed the look.
Great job,
Melissa
Kim, you are really getting good at your chalk paint technique. You should teach classes, seriously. Maybe you could get your local paint store to let you use their space and they could become a retailer.
ReplyDeleteKim your bench really looks like a priceless antique. Bravo!!
ReplyDeleteI can see you would have many bidders if you ever sell! (including me)
Do come and enter my Designer Pillow Giveaway!! (Also a great resource)

ReplyDeleteWow Kim. You could make a serious living painting furniture. I love the look you gave that bench. Great job. Patty
ReplyDeleteJust Fabulous Kim!
ReplyDeleteI've got to place an order for the new color right away. That bench is really pretty, especially with it's new customized paint finish.
You've got such a great eye for design,.
Cori
Gorgeous Bench! I Love French Linen, you did a fabulous job making it look authentic, which can sometimes be hard to achieve.
ReplyDeleteSimply Beautiful.
Okay, I have some questions. You say this took two hours. I'm wondering what it looked like before? Was it already painted? When I'm using the chalk paint on varnished furniture, it's taking me 3-4 coats minimum to get good coverage. How many coats did you use? It sure looks lovely -- maybe I'm being too picky about the finish? I love the details you enhanced with the gold and the dark wax too!
ReplyDeleteHer new do is perfect! I need some of that rub-n-buff it adds so much!
ReplyDeleteLove the new do! A very pretty " painted lady " indeed!
ReplyDeleteThat's what I call my painted furniture pieces! I'm inspired by this color combination for a victorian chair and a dining chair I have " in waiting " in the studio! Thanks for this... the gold is a fun touch too!
Deb
That is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThe first set of pillows are my fav's.
Great job!
drooling on the keyboard! this piece is incredible, adn the color is perfection.
ReplyDeletemichele
I looks wonderful in the French linen! I have a sample of that shade and need to find the perfect piece to use it on. I like how it give the weathered wood look. Just what I was hoping it would.
ReplyDeleteYes!! I Love it! I haven't been paying the best of attention to all the tutorials on the chalk paint because I thought I had noting to paint... but I have a bench like this and could really use this makeover. Now I feel like I am completely behind on all this... It has a rush seat and wonder how hard it is to cover that... I need to figure out the supply list. Sounds like you used two colors of paint, two waxes and the rub and buff.. and I guess I need brushes too... I'm so behind!
ReplyDeleteI love it! You've done an absolutely beautiful job!
ReplyDeleteLove this--so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteAnother masterpiece I found in your blog. Just now I was just searching for this type of piece at my dining room table instead of my wire bench. your bench transformation is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteeye wash safety

ReplyDeleteHi Kim, your bench itself is gorgeous, her redo makes her shine even more. hugs ~lynne~
ReplyDeleteGORGEOUS!!!! :)
ReplyDeleteIs old white the accent color? I think that this is your best yet! You've become quite the ASCP expert! Please tell me what you use to buff. Rags, cheesecloth? Thanks!,
ReplyDeleteThe ASCP novice.
I know you get a millions comments, but I just had to say.. this took my breath away!
ReplyDeleteOh this came out fabulous and I love the pillows. I want to get some of that paint to do my dining room table. I am wondering if it is durable enough the top. Now I just have to figure out where to order some. Weekend project I think getting me some of that wonderful stuff.
ReplyDeleteBittersweet...on the one hand, you so inspire me to get up off my behind and paint my black hutch with this awesome paint...on the OTHER hand, I know I can't do it like you do and I'm gonna be LOST...Oh, I can paint..it's the waxes and golds and the beautiful finished look you always get. Maybe I'll start on a smaller piece and THEN do my hutch.:)
ReplyDeleteYour bench is breathtaking..I just pinned it.:)
WOW!!!!!! It looks fabulous! LOve the script pillows too! GORGEOUS! XO, Pinky
ReplyDeleteSure do. It looks fabulous.
ReplyDeleteI love your bench! I was wondering if you paint the whole bench French Linen, then go back and paint over the details with old white. Or, do you paint around the details and then just paint them white. You must have a very steady hand - it is just beautiful!
ReplyDeleteKim, me gusta mucho como se ve el banco, con esos colores. Saludos
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Kim you have such a an eye for the right spots to highlight. BTW, what is the paint color on the wall behind the bench?

ReplyDeleteIf this was mine, I'd have to tell the boys to stay off and treat it like it was my own little throne.
What a find! You finished it so beautifully.
ReplyDeleteOMG! Love this! I just bought a can of French Linen and can't wait to try it.
ReplyDeleteLove the bench and the blog. Now I know what to do with that chair I bought 3 years ago and a bench I want to buy.
