I found six vintage English majolica plates. I have always loved the beautiful colors of majolica, but the prices on these wonderful old plates are usually very pricey.
There are two of this pattern in this wonderful deep green. There is one each of the following patterns.
I love the color of this one. It came out odd looking in the photos.
So of course I had to rearrange this plate rack to showcase my new majolica finds.
I moved some of my older plates that are not majolica up to the top shelf.
The bottom two shelves hold the majolica so it is easier to admire.
Next time you see this plate rack it will be dressed for Christmas.
I could not believe the price on each one of these plates as I kept picking them up one at a time. I was standing there saying no way. Are these real? Then one of the booth owners who sells some majolica walked by and I asked him if these were real and he said yes. You want to know how much each one of these were?.........FIFTEEN BUCKS each! Yep. SOLD!
Now, Pamela and I didn't see each other even though she said they went there. I asked her what time was she there and it was the same time that I was. So why didn't we see each other? Well, the problem was she went to one of their other stores. There are three Queen of Hearts locations. One is even only ten minutes from my house. Guess which one she was at? Yep, the one close to me while I drove 45 minutes to the other one. Her husband had looked up the stores and they went to the Buford one while I was at my favorite one which is further away. I assumed she was at that one.In the end I am glad I went to my favorite one since I found the majolica. They said it had just been put out and I snatched it up.
Maybe next time she comes for a visit we will meet at the right place.
Miss Bailey went to the vet today after having me back up several times last night with her upset stomach. She was doing better Saturday night, but got worse yesterday so for peace of mind I took her in. They did blood work and are running some tests on her stool. I am so tired from lack of sleep and the house has Christmas decorations in boxes all over the place. I feel so overwhelmed right now. I am very slowly getting some of the decorating done. I know there is no rush, but I hate the mess.
Hope to see you for Wow Us Wednesdays tonight. Turn out was down last week as I knew it would be due to the holiday. Hope we have a great turnout this week.

ReplyDeleteHi, Kim, Great deal on the plates! I have collected the faux green Majolica over the years, mostly stuff made in Portugal, and have always lusted after the real stuff. Lucky you. Looks great on your new shelf, too. I am working on a before and after post about our TV/entertainment unit re-do and have been putting some of my green ware on the shelves. It is shaping up nicely... I think
ReplyDeletegreen goes with everything. Hope your dog is better soon.

What fun! I can only imagine how excited you were to get there first! Some things are just meant to be. They're gorgeous! Hope you get caught up on some sleep!
ReplyDeleteLove the new dishes! Sorry to hear about Bailey. I hope she's feeling better soon. I'm in the same boat with you, with Christmas boxes everywhere. I feel like I've gotten a late start with being away for the entire Thanksgiving weekend.
ReplyDeleteNext time for sure Kim!! I was just getting ready to do my post on missing each other too!:) Hope Bailey gets better soon! It must be like having a baby in the house!! Sending prayers and hugs. Oh, and LOVE your finds!!
ReplyDeleteI hope Bailey is feeling better soon, Kim. Great plates and they look wonderful on your shelf. I've got my bins sitting off to the side waiting to go back up in the attic until January. I'd like to make one trip back up there with them, so I'm trying to wait until I'm totally done decorating. I may just wind up making two trips because I can't stand looking at them anymore!
ReplyDeleteI LIVED in that antique shop when during my year in Atlanta!!!! LOL I remember like it was yesterday. It was in an old grocery store. I have an amazing huge pine chest of drawers with black milk paint on the bottom part from that place and countless other great things. OH! How I loved that place and another smaller place in Roswell. Fun times.
ReplyDeleteThe majolica plates are divine and so pretty right here at Christmas time. You did good. Richard from My Old Historic House.
ReplyDeleteMy mom has a collection of Majolica and I've always loved the colour and design. Your plate rack looks beautiful! I love plate racks!
ReplyDeleteTruly beautiful plates! Glad you found them! Hope Bailey feels better soon! hugs, Linda
ReplyDeleteYour plates look great. That was such a great buy on them too! Sorry that Bailey has been sick so long. I thought Max was better, but it turned out not to be. Jimmy took him to the vet today and they did bloodwork and x-rays. Everything came back fine, but they said he was dehydrated and had a slight fever. They were concerned he might have a bowel obstruction. They gave him fluids and a pain shot and antibiotic shot. They want to see him again tomorrow. $341 later he is feeling a little better! Whew! Hope Bailey gets better real soon too! I've got my Christmas decorating almost done. Still working on the tree.
ReplyDeleteLucky for the plate find, but not for missing trying to meet up with a friend. Hope Bailey is feeling better.

Dear Kim,
ReplyDeleteRelax...it's still November, you have plenty of time to decorate. You need to take care of yourself first.
Hope Bailey feels better soon.

I have had a fascination with Majolica ever since first reading about it over thirty years ago. Your plates are wonderful, Kim.
ReplyDeleteHope Bailey is on the mend soon!
I too love Majolica, but have seen the high prices, so wow, what a fantastic deal you got!! They look lovely in the pine shelf which I love, love, love. So sorry to hear about Miss Baily, I hope she is better soon. :(
ReplyDeleteSo glad to hear that Bailey is doing better! Your plates are gorgeous. I have always wanted to start a majolica collection, too, but the prices would not let me indulge. You scored a real find. Can't wait to see how you decorate for Christmas with them.
ReplyDeleteMajolica is such a 'feel good' looking dishware! Love your collection as well as the shelf. Great finds on your part!
ReplyDeleteAwesome finds! Great shopping, Kim!

ReplyDeleteIt's too bad you missed each other, but the plate fairy must have sent you to the other location so that you could find those gorgeous plates! I have a friend who collect majolica and she would love your latest finds! I hope sweet Bailey gets a clean bill of health and that she is feeling all better very soon!
ReplyDeleteKat :)
Oh miss Bailey...our little Kramer dog used to get sick like that all the time, those little dogs are sensitive but I'm sure she will be just fine Kim, they are hearty little people
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful plates and they look awesome on your plate rack.
ReplyDeleteSorry you missed your bloggy friend ...maybe next time.
I sure hope Bailey is better...my daughter's dog is sick, too.
Yep...boxes every where and I am working hard and fast, just to get the mess out of the way. :)
Go take a nice nap after lunch today.

Hi Kim!
ReplyDeleteOf course I had never HEARD of majolica, although the look is familiar...and they're beautiful! Good score!
I like those plates but I LOVE that hutch! It's gorgeous and I know right where I'd put it!
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry about your little Bailey. Dogs are just like kids. You hate it when they are sick. If it makes you feel any better I have not one Christmas decoration up. We went to a family wedding in Nashville over the weekend so I'm dreadfully behind. It will get done...it always does. Maybe a nap this afternoon is the thing to do. I was at our antique mall yesterday after school to buy some linens. I saw a tool tote that was probably 30 - 35 in. long. It was $65.00. Is that a good deal? I didn't know. Take care dear...
ReplyDeleteSo hard not to feel overwhelmed this time of year. I have to make a conscience decision to stay positive or it can drag you down if you have a lot going on at one time. I am with you. Boxes all over are stressful. Hope your pup is better soon.
ReplyDeleteWow, I love those plates, Kim. Great deal, too.
ReplyDeleteBarb
