First all that hung on the wall is the larger painting from Paris that a friend gave us years ago. I have never been, but I have a painting. I decided to add the fleur de lis plaque and the bee print.
This plaque was hanging in the master bath before it was painted a couple of months ago. I decided not to hang it back in there.
The plaque and this bee print were both bought at Hobby Lobby years ago.
As I kept passing by this grouping on the wall I did not care much for the dark wood of the frame and of course my paint brushes and Annie Sloan chalk paint came out. I used Chateau Gray and then brushed some gold craft paint in the deeper part. It was then distressed and waxed.
I don't think I have shown y'all this painting up close. Our friends brought us the print and then I had it framed probably two years later. I bet some of y'all have visited here. I'm still waiting.
Another look at the finish I did on the frame.
Love the new frame color and the gallery wall.
Y'all would not believe how many nail holes are behind the large picture. Shameful I tell ya.
See, Martina, I told you we are joined at the hip.
Joining the following:
Very pretty! I LOVE the Fleur de Lis! They're my thing but I'm trying to refrain so I don't have them all over my house.
ReplyDeleteHi Kimmie! I love it and the entire arrangement is lovely.
ReplyDeleteHave a blessed Easter and always be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
- hope Mr. Savvy is feeling better.
LOL!! Love the new display Kim and the frame looks great painted! Did you dry brush the fleur plaque too? I have the same one in my master bath.
ReplyDeleteDon't you just love how dust can make you create? I adore your bee print. I agree - grouping in odd numbers always looks best. It looks great! Have a great Easter. I'm sure you'll get to see that sweet granddaughter of yours :) Fun!
ReplyDeleteI love your grouping Kim. You really have a way of putting things together.. Have a great Easter.
ReplyDeletehaha! I love the part about the nail holes...I'm in that club too. I have two french watercolors like yours and they are in black frames and I don't like it cuz they are such lovely watery looking pictures...yours looks awesome.
ReplyDeletenot that it was bad ( cuz it's still Paris) ... but way better now!
ReplyDeleteI love it- It really completes that wall. Nice job on the frame, too. It looks much better than the dark wood did. Who DOESN'T have a thousand nail holes that are "hidden"?;>) xo Diana
ReplyDeleteLove the new Paris print. I'm with you would love to go but never been. I would love to see your hording room someday. I wonder where everyone stores all their pretties while not in use. I hate to store anything, so mine normally take a trip to GW. Show us a peek some time:)
ReplyDeleteKim,
ReplyDeleteI love the new art display.I don't have nail holes now that I just painted ....but just wait.
Anne
Gorgeous wall Kim!~ You and Martina are joined at the hip for sure LOL!
ReplyDeleteThat's a great looking grouping. I like the new color of the frame you did much better than the original. I've never seen that plaque before (that I can remember). You've got a nice trio of french pics/icons together.
ReplyDeleteKim,
ReplyDeleteIt looks amazing! I love the picture wall and that fleur de leis....perfection :)
blessings,
karianne
One thing I like about you Kim is that you aren't afraid of taking something you don't like and turning it into something great!
ReplyDeleteLove the wall gallery. It's very pretty and yes, the frame looks much better.
hugs
Sissie
You're wall looks great, Kim. Love the fleur de lis plaque. I completely get the constant dusting. Nice to know I'm not alone. lol
ReplyDeleteLove the gallery wall and the newly painted frame! I'm glad I'm not the only one with nail holes behind the pictures.

ReplyDeleteI'm crazy over bees so that is my favorite one! I love the arrangement! (hope your hubby is doing well)
ReplyDeleteLorraine
As a drywall contractor my husband cringes every time I nail anything into sheetrock. He's had to adjust, especially because I never get the first one right.
ReplyDelete~Bliss~ (come dust for me)
love the painted frame. It really works well with the blue in the double matting. that fleur de lis plaque is lovely ~ Pam
ReplyDeleteKim,
ReplyDeleteI like your grouping on your gallery wall. It's always good to hear that others have lots of nail holes hiding behind pictures. :-) You really do a nice job with the ASCP. And your color choices and techniques are so pretty.
Mary Alice
I love your gallery wall Kim. Very pretty. I'm really bad with nails, as well, that I'm thinking of using command strips from now on. They've really expanded the line. Hope Mr. Savvy is feeling better every day.
ReplyDeleteYou know, you could write a post about toilet paper and I would find it interesting! I just love your writing style and the honest, down-to-earth way you think!
ReplyDelete(Love the frame fix too!)
Love that grouping... the bee print and your frame make-over... can you come DO my house over??? LOL...
ReplyDeleteWhat a great grouping! I think the new frame color works marvelously with the lovely painting! And yes, I saw Martina's great frame painting tutorial... joined at the hip indeed!
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter, dear friend!
Yvonne
Isn't it funny how one small task can lead you to another, and then another, and before you know it you've redecorated an entire wall in your house? Looks great, Kim :)
ReplyDeleteYou always do such a great job with chalk paint. Looks so very pretty! I love the plaque!
ReplyDeleteAngie
I think Chalk Paint could be your middle name!! Looks great, Kim!!
ReplyDeleteHI Kim, the gallery wall looks great! I love how you painted the frame, so much better. Love that bee print too. Wishing you and your family a happy and blessed Easter. XO, Pinky
ReplyDeleteOh I absolutely WOULD believe how many holes are behind any given picture. Here is my method of hanging something. Let's try this spot, no too high. Let's try this spot - no too high. Let's move to the right some. Yea...good enough. (until I walk by later and think it needs to go to the left) haha - its little secrets we all have. Wishing you and yours a beautiful and Blessed Easter. xxoo, barb
ReplyDeleteAt least your multiple holes are BEHIND the picture! I've never been shy about pounding holes in walls, but now that we've repaired some of our cracked plaster walls, I do think twice before I pound!
ReplyDeleteHi, Kim it looks great I love theFleur de Lis. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThose are just the right touch in that spot! I have been to Sacre Coeur. It is beautiful, but it is a lot of steps!!! I love what you did to the frame. Really makes the picture pop!
ReplyDeleteWe were gone for a week and the dust bunnies are out of control! How does that happen???
Love it Kim! Wow what a difference the frame color made. I love the bee pic and the Fleur de Lis. It all came together great. When we bought our home 2 yrs. ago it had only been lived in 6 months. She had 2 nail holes in the wall. A week after we moved in I had hung so much my hubby said, "Oh, if the previous owner could only see it now". lol!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Jann
You allot such beautiful wall southern style. Its too good and fantastic image share with us. You have done great photography.
ReplyDeleteBuy to Let Mortgages
I have that very bee print
ReplyDeleteJust deliscious Kim! I love the new frame color...isn't amazing how a little Annie Sloan Chalk Paint™ can make such a difference?
ReplyDeleteyour friend,
Janet
The Empty Nest
One time you had a picture of a bicycle there that you got at Home Goods and you talked of painting the frame. What happened to it? I loved it!!!
ReplyDeleteLove your bee pic too!
The space looks wonderful and beautifully themed..
ReplyDeleteHave a most joyous Easter.
Isn't it amazing how paint can renew just about everything? I find myself slapping paint on just about everything nowadays, thanks to your inspiration! Hope Mr. Savvy is moving around a little better now, and have a wonderful Easter weekend.
ReplyDeleteNice wall grouping and I like the new paint job on the frame. It's funny how many nail holes I have in the wall, too, behind some of my prints!
ReplyDeleteNice grouping, and I love the paint on the frame too. I hope your husband is feeling better! Have a great easter weekend.
ReplyDeleteKim, love the new wall art, the plaque is a good choice for the space. I love what you did with the paint on the dark wood of the frame. The new color just looks fabulous! Hope you and M. S have a beautiful Easter.

The French Hutch
Great job on the frame! My new theory is that nail holes allow the house to breathe! How does that sound?
ReplyDeleteI am wondering if I could do that on a much larger scale. I have a HUGE foyer wall that is DYING for something...I am tired of looking at blank...but it is HUGE...
ReplyDeleteYour grouping looks really good and the frame and bench are a great color. I know, I've seen the bench before, but it's still a great color.:)
ReplyDeleteLove the bee print.
Love your gallery wall, Kim. You did a great job on your frame. Wonderful distressed finish. Also love the bee print a bunch.
ReplyDeleteNice visiting with you this morning.
God bless and Happy Easter. Amy
I love your grouping! What you did with that frame really makes it stand out, much better now. I have a wall like that and never know what to put on it!
ReplyDeleteYou just have to be painting something :)
ReplyDeleteChalk paint to the rescue!
Amazing what a difference painting the frame made! I love the new look. I have sooooo many nail holes behind my pictures too. Every once in a while, I get out the spackle and touch paint.
ReplyDeletesharon @ mrs. hines class
That's a beautiful grouping, Kim. And the frame is so much prettier with that chalk paint. The fleur-de-lis and the print of the Bee (symbol of Napoleon) make it a perfect French tableau!
ReplyDeleteGood to know there are nail holes behind your pictures too! Love the Fleur de Lis!
ReplyDeleteI love how you keep things that are not currently in use and then pull them out to use later. Now that's savvy!
