This armoire was one of our first antique purchases over thirty years ago. It was only $90. Sold!
I told you I would share what I did to cover the white cushions that came with the kuboo chairs.
I took two of these old Pottery Barn pillow covers that are 20 x 20 inches and just slipped them on the cushion and zipped it up. Not a perfect fit, but good enough.
Flipped it over and voila we have a burlap look covered cushion.
Add this marvelous vintage grain sack pillow made by my sponsor Ann of Sutton Place Designs and they work perfectly together.
See you tonight for WOW!

ReplyDeleteHi Kim: Blue and white just really perks up a room and the pillow covers came out great.I will be joining you on Wow Us Wednesday..Thank you for hosting..Happy Monday..Judy
ReplyDeleteI love the wicker chair at the table, I have been on the search for two older wicker chairs to sit at our dining room table, I love that mix, the pillow covers are great!Blue and white is such a great look, it never gets old or tired, I heard a decorator say one time that every room needs something blue,

ReplyDeleteLooks good Kim! I have those same chairs!!!! I found them at World Market in December when I only went initially to buy the Cafe Du Monde beignet mix hahaha I got 4 for my dining area. I was thinking of having slipcovers made for them in either grainsack or toile fabric. Yours look great with your custom "slipcovers"!
ReplyDeleteVery creative with the pillow covers. I like the blue accents too.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day.
Pam
I love your blue and white. I have been collecting it for 28 years and NEVER get tired of it. I am so anxious to see how and where I will display it all in the new house. Love what you did with the chairs too, very clever!!! XO, Pinky
ReplyDeleteI just love that blue crock that you found at such a great price.I have never decorated with blue and white but I find that I am really attracted to it lately.
ReplyDeleteLovely blue and white vignette on top of that beautiful armoire. When you buy antiques like that you will love them forever.
ReplyDeleteI know just what you mean, I started with blue in this house 23 years ago and still have it! When I think back to it, I've always had blue in some color and combo, remember the blue and mauve days???
ReplyDeleteBlue and burlap. Can't beat that. Ann sure made a beautiful pillow. blessings ~ tanna
ReplyDeleteKim the top of your armoire looks beautiful with all the blue and white pieces! I love that solid one in the middle. Great idea for the cushions too.
ReplyDeleteLove a good bargain. They look great!
ReplyDeleteHi Kimmie! I'm seeing so much blue and white around blogland and I just love it. Seems like you got some great deals on those pieces.
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,

Love how you incorporated the blue and white and all of the other details! So lovely.

Love the blue and white jars! We always had a shelf in the kitchen with lots of blue and white ginger jars and pitchers. Very classic!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty!
ReplyDeleteLove the blue and white in your dining room Kim. That armoire is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteBlue and white is so classic and beautiful for summer. I love the armoire. What a great deal!
ReplyDeleteLove the touch of blue and white you added to your dining room.....very pretty! What a great deal you got on your first antique piece too! Our first antique was a treadle sewing machine that we bought at an estate sale. I can't remember how much we paid for it but I do remember hauling it up the basement stairs! LOL Love how you recovered your chairs too...

Love your dining room. I used to have blue and white in my kitchen, but it never looked good with the granite that I had installed. You have inspired me to get it out and, perhaps, put it in another room. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteYour armoire is gorgeous with the blue & white pieces topping it.
ReplyDeleteThe blue and white looks great there. Is this the first time I have seen the armoir. How wonderful it is and a great story. Please don't paint it, I love it with it's originally stain.
ReplyDeleteI grew up in Japan and my mom collected tons of blue and white, which I inherited. I packed it away 10 years ago but after seeing your gorgeous display I'm wanting to get it out again!
ReplyDeleteLove those chairs too :D
Linsey
I think we're living parallel lives, Kim! I've started collecting quite a bit of blue and white lately. My goal is to get enough of a collection to display on my dining table.
ReplyDeleteAnd, I have the same koobu chairs and the cushions have gotten dirty. I asked WM if they'd sell me new cushions, but they don't do that. So, I LOVE your pillow cover idea... especially since I don't sew. Great solution!
I love the addition of the blue and white Kim. Great idea using those pillow covers for the seat cushions.
ReplyDeleteAnn's pillow is perfect! She does such wonderful work.
You are right...things do come full circle...had tons of blue...then got tired of it and went with the jewel tones and now I am getting back to the blues...timeless...Love the blue and white on top of that awesome cabinet! Love how you can flip the cushions..great idea!
ReplyDeleteHave a great one!
It is funny how our tastes evolve but we always seem to find our way back to or original look. I have tried to take my home in other directions, but it has never worked. What a smart ideas for the cushion covers. I love to use what I already have, and it doesn't have to be a perfect fit:) Lovely pillow by Anna.
ReplyDeleteBlue and white is a timeless combination. Love your additions!
ReplyDeleteI love what you've done with your Panama sack. Tres Chic. And your armoire was a steal!
ReplyDelete~Bliss~
I love the vases together!
ReplyDeleteI've been doing the same thing. I saved my blue and white transferware, and glad I did as I re-introduced it into the kitchen. Love your display and armoire. I don't recall seeing it before.
ReplyDeleteHi Kim, now this is a great do-over! Love the rattan chairs, too! While my blue and white is not spectacular, I still love it and have always had it scattered throughout the house. Wish my parents would have bought more of it, when in Japan in the mid-50's. Se la vie! (pigeon French for "that's life").
ReplyDeleteKim, Your dining room is a great mix of traditional, vintage and french! What a unique and upscale look... and a very welcoming combination! the addition of blue makes it just delightful! I chose blue and white also, to accent my neutrals!
ReplyDeleteWe have such similar taste, but you have the magic touch!!!!
Couldn't agree more. Blue and white are timeless. I love the pop of color it adds to your dining room. So pretty!
ReplyDeleteLooks great Kim!
ReplyDeleteI have many pieces of blue and white and used to have shelves full but got rid of so many pieces through the years.
I do have platters from my grandmother that I would never part with, but I have not made room for them here, unfortunately. Browns, tans, reds and greens have taken their place!
My old kitchen was khaki, white and blue in my last home. Decided to change it up a but when we moved here nine years ago.
My how time flies!!
Hope you had a lovely long weekend.

Also, love your kooboo chairs. I worked two of those into my client's changing room that spills out onto her patio and pool area.
ReplyDeleteThey are so comfy! I was so surprised. Love their grayish tones too.
Yours are such a nice addition to the ladderbacks.
:)
The cushions are so cute, what a great idea. Love your pottery, it looks gorgeous on top of the armoire. Great collection. Thanks for joining TTT. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteKim, I love the addition of the blue and white. You are so right about it being timeless! I have always loved it.
ReplyDeleteI used to have a collection, but I passed it on to my sister years ago before moving out to California. I wish I still had it.
Uh-oh, maybe it's something new to collect? ;-)
xo-Lisa
If you stay in design long enough...it all comes back around again!!! And you can still find so much blue and white everywhere for cheap. Looks great!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the shout out...great choice on your part. Those pillow covers look fabulous in your chairs. I appreciate your support!
ReplyDeleteI had a blue and white kitchen for quite some time. Have gotten away from it, but still love the timeless/classic look. Loving the grain sack cushions.
ReplyDeleteI love the blue & white with the wood Kim! You have the eye for sure! :)
