The first few photos are of a stop we made in Mississippi at an antique mall that at first I was questioning that it really was one. These shots were taken with my ipad 2.
All of you who love junking would have loved this place, but at first it looked a little scary to me.
Look at all those old doors in the distance. If we had a truck I probably would have bought one.
Tons of shutters.
This truly was a junk place on the outside.
Anyone need a Subway sign?
It was like walking through a maze from one junk room to the next.
This stuff outside was filthy.
Cool clock. Buddha, anyone?
How about an owl? Lots of y'all love owls.
Pretty brass bed was sold.
We stopped at around five different places and this is my loot.
Finally found some decent vintage suitcases. The top one is navy.
Added another old olive jar to my collection. Couldn't pass this up with that price.
Favorite find is probably the hornet's nest.
Only $22 and huge! Glad everyone has moved out.
Now I will have to play house again as the mister calls it and figure out where this stuff is going.
I will share more close ups with you soon.
We haven't been home very long and he wants to go see the movie Battleship. Yuck. Guess that is the price I have to pay for him having to go shopping with me this weekend.
Have a super duper week!

I do love that brass bed LOTS!

Loving the hornets nest. Great texture. Can't see the whole olive jar, but I love that weathered finish. Nice finds.
ReplyDeleteI would have stayed there for hours looking at everything! I love thriftiness.

What a fun weekend, great that Mr. Savvy went along with your idea! You've got some interesting treasures. That is an incredible hornet's nest and love the jar! Enjoy the movie~
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun way to spend the weekend..well maybe not the movie. :)
ReplyDeleteLove the hornet's nest and the olive jar. Have fun at the movies.
Great stuff Kim. Hope you enjoy the movie...teehee!

Looks like you found some pretty neat stuff! I once had one of those blue and white happiness jars back in the 80's! Gosh, that brings back memories. Glad you were able to find a hornet's nest. I didn't know you wanted one. The Green Bean has had them alot lately! That orangey brown suitcase reminds me of the one mom used to use. I think hers was a train case. I'd actually like to see Battleship. We are planning on take Will sometime to it. Started to yesterday, but took him to the pool instead. Let me know how it is!
ReplyDeleteLooks like so much fun Kim!! Tons of great stuff to choose from!!
ReplyDeleteLooks like lots of junk in that store, but that's usually the best place to find treasures. I love your finds.
ReplyDeleteI know you had a good time and I love those suitcases! Enjoy the movie!
ReplyDeleteI need a couple of those doors to make into a screen in our courtyard. I need to hide the radon system.
ReplyDeleteKim,
ReplyDeleteWhat a great store. That is my kind of shop. That is a steal on that hornets nest. They have one at a antique shop in town.It is 55.00.I am thinking they really don't want to sell it.LOVE your finds. Can't wait to see more photos.
Anne
Oh I would have been like a kid at Christmas in that shop! Love the buddha!
ReplyDeleteYour hornets nest is the bees knees!
Now, order a big tub of popcorn and watch that movie (maybe you can sneak in your i-pad)!
Kelly
Looks like you had a fun weekend Kim, great finds!
ReplyDeleteThat really looks like a super cool place to shop! Love your finds! hugs, Linda
ReplyDeleteWow! You did rack up!!!! Your haul is bringing back some memories! My grandmother had several suitcases like the brown one. I have two of the blue and white jars right now and I used to have a giant hornet's nest in my classroom.
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to seeing what you do with the new goodies.
I can't believe he didn't whine and complain about going with you! That was a bonus...and because that was kind of a scary place you probably wouldn't have spent much time there if he wasn't with you. I love all the old doors and shutters. I am still waiting to get one delivered from my son (for my side garden area). Looks like you scored some good loot....and remember- Payback is a ...well, you know the word that goes in there. Sounds like a wonderful movie- NOT! xo Diana
ReplyDeleteYou found an interesting place to shop. On our way home from New Orleans in January, we stopped at a place called Treasure Chest somewhere in Mississippi. They didn't have vintage stuff, but they did have great bargains. By the way, I went to Lucketts years ago before I was blogging. I'd love to go back now. Fortunately, I'm only 4+ hours away.
ReplyDeleteRight now I am in a weird state of mind: I don't wan to shop for anything!!! I don't want to have to pack it, plus I want to see what I need in the new house. SO, I haven't been shopping. SOOOOO weird for me! I LOVE all your finds especially the olive jar. XO, pinky
ReplyDeleteI had a big laugh out loud over the movie comment! I think that junk stop looked awesome,,,,!
ReplyDeleteKim, your weekend away sounds like a fun time. I doubt I could get the chef to do a road trip just to go antiquing. Mr. Savvy is a good sport. The movie is a small price to pay. ;-)
ReplyDelete~ Sarah
Looks like such a fun antiquing trip! Love all your finds. And I really love all those doors at that first place!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you two had a time! And some great finds!
ReplyDeleteI spied a milk jug cow in your little haul. I collect those. Would love to see what you will do with a hornets nest.
ReplyDeleteI follow your every move...but Kim? A hornets nest? Really? Scary.
ReplyDeleteI would love to go shopping there. The doors and shutters were my favorites. But I'm sure I could find more things . You found some wonderful treasures! The hornets nest is so unique and love the olive jar.
ReplyDeleteJody
I can't believe you left that Buddha behind, Kim!! LOL! LOVE that olive jar. I'm thinking that Battleship was a small price to pay for this adventure. ;) blessings ~ tanna
ReplyDeleteSuper finds. I love that old scale too. Great pics, I love old architecture. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteThe suitcases are fantastic. I saw the same changing table I had for my kids in one ot the pictures. How was the movie?
ReplyDeleteI'll be curious to see what you do with the hornets nest. Every year I can have one of those for free, only at first they do come with the hornets.
ReplyDelete~Bliss~
Wow! You did score on great treasures. I love the hornet's nest.
ReplyDeleteDee
Those are some awesome finds Kim. Love the olive jar. That looked like a great place to shop.
ReplyDeleteI love antique stores with cool stuff outside. I love all the old shutters and doors. What a good guy he was to chaffeur you around. Have a wonderful week. Patty
ReplyDeleteThat blue suitcase would be wonderful to have. I see so many brown ones but hardly ever a blue one. What will you do with it?
ReplyDeleteIs it really fair? Is it really fair to post these pictures. I love the doors and the windows and the iron. *sigh*
ReplyDeleteI need a road trip :)
Have a blessed and wonderful day!
blessings,
karianne
It looks like you were in heaven this over the weekend. All that "junk" looked fabulous, and you brought home some great pieces. Now for the fun part of playing in your house!

I just love impromptu trips...what a guy!!...Looks as if you had a successful trip...love all the "junk"...Can't wait to see what you will do with the hornet's nest...So glad that your trip was productive, fun, and most of all, a great time spent with your "love".....truly a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteJ would have been in hog heaven at that place. He would've loved going through every inch of the place.:-)
ReplyDeleteI had three hornets nests at the farm. A frisky little beagle got hold of the most unusual. It was completely formed around the white enamel underside of a dark green farm yard light.
I gave them away when we moved.
You found some wonderful things. Cant believe the olive jar was so cheap. I have seen them for hundreds.
ReplyDeleteScary!!????? Are you kiddin' me? That's my favorite kind of place. Always something good hiding under something bad in those kinds of places. Loved all the loot on the outside and loved the loot you bought too! Sherry and I went to Luckett's and antiqued and yard saled all the way up there and all the way back. Made a weekend of it. Luckett's was amazing. Wished you could have gone so we could have met up. :) xo
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had a great time!
ReplyDeleteDid you get to Luckett's??
Either way, you had fun with your hubby....
have a great week...
Nancy
Oh my gosh! That salvage yard/antique store looked fabulous! I could have stopped right then and there. Doors are big out here...shutters too. I told Bob we should drive there and he suggested something a bit closer! Your olive jar is a steal! Great find! I still don't understand how women in the east are so taken with things like wasp nests, strange fungi and the like! Maybe it's an acquired thing! Take care and have fun playing house. So fun!
ReplyDeleteKim, what a fun visit. Thanks! Be sure and visit my blog - I have nominated you for the Kreativ Blogger Award!
ReplyDeleteDiane
Love your finds, but not the hornet's nest.
ReplyDeleteI guess Mr. Savvy had a motive... to get you to see the movie with him. That is cute.
♥charlotte
I love finding new spots to like around in! Do you remember the name of that whole in Mississippi, and what town it was in?
ReplyDeleteI've never been to Luckett's and now I'm jonesing to go- luckily hubby is always game to go with me!

Can you tell me where in Mississippi this treasure store was? Thanks
ReplyDeleteKim, that sounds like a fun trip. Tell me how it is that men expect us to enjoy their kind of shops, yet can't appreciate our kind. Love that olive jar and the cow.
ReplyDeleteWow, what a great way to spend your weekend! I see so many goodies I would have needed a trailer to get it all. I could spend the day there. Thanks for sharing your photos.

The French Hutch
This was in Meridian and it is called the antique mall of Meridian. I think it was an old store or gas station in it's first life.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad your husband is up to road-tripping again. I love the suitcases...if I had a place to put some, I'd be looking for them myself. I'm trying to picture my husband if I told him I was going to buy a hornets nest...I just know it is going to be perfect and unique at your house...but all want to do when I see one is RUN!
ReplyDeleteOMG~that looks like Heaven! I NEED that aqua colored door!
ReplyDeleteI would love to go Antiquing (junking) there!!! Looks like fun and how great of the hubby to go with you!
ReplyDeleteThat is EXACTLY the type of place i love to dig around in!! I might need that address!! haha! My husband has been wanting a hornets nest like that for a couple years now. Guess i need to get busy and find him one. Thanks for sharing your fabulous finds!!

Hi Kim, Looks like fun and I am loving the olive jar.
ReplyDeleteI went to an estate sale this weekend to get a piece of blue/white porcelain just like that. Unfortunately, they wouldn't let me in b/c I had one of my children w/ me, which wasn't published in the ad. Love the olive jar! Too funny about the movie. Hope it was better than it sounds. You should take the iPad w/ you to read blogs, next time! ;o)
ReplyDeleteoh my goodness, I got married in Dec. 1970 and received a clock just like that as a wedding gift! It hung proudly over my mantel in England and then over the mantel when we were stateside. I sure wish I still had that clock!
ReplyDeleteLaurie
Wow, Kim, I love the shop you found and everything you bought (except the hornet's nest.) Must be a southern thing. Everything else is wonderful.
ReplyDeleteLove the vintage suitcases. My hubby calls creating vignettes etc. playing house too :) That antique shop looked interesting wondering if the prices were good too?
ReplyDeleteLove love that type of place...could get lost in there for HOURS!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you for stopping by and for joining...and for the sweet comment.
ReplyDeleteLove your blog!!
I love stopping at places like that, Kim! I could spend hours and hours inside, poking around. The little suitcases are adorable - can't wait to see what you do with them. I have some stacked under a desk in my bedroom and use them to store "off season" clothes, scarves, etc. Have a beautiful day!
ReplyDeleteBoy your husband is a real trouper! I would have been all over those shutters...what a place!
ReplyDeleteDon't judge an antique store by its outside. Meridian is my hometown...I live in Pensacola now but I always pick this place. Great architectural items, windows, doors, and good prices on the outside. Yeah its a little dirty on the outside but I get my best stuff when I have to get a little dirty.
