Yesterday I shared my loot with you that I brought home this weekend and today, after cutting the grass and inbetween working on the laundry, I played around with my stuff. Here is a vignette I created using the vintage black scale and a little bird nest I found in my hydrangea last week.
I switched the large round willow tray with this oblong wicker tray that was on the coffee table in the great room. I filled it with vintage demijohns a tiny fern and the vintage scale. This is the first scale I have found with a round tray and I believed it is made of iron. This vignette is on top of the television cabinet in the sun room. I love mixing textures and natural items and then adding something unusual like the scale.
See you tonight for Wow!

What a wonderful vignette! I love the vintage scale with the bird nest - so lovely :)
ReplyDeleteSo pretty and I really love that pop of color in the glass piece. The bird's nest is so sweet, but it reminds me of the first one I ever brought inside. It was full of mites - learned a very good lesson!!
ReplyDeleteLove that scale. I once worked with a RN named Chattillion who came from that scale family.

You've got to know I love any vignette with a bird nest in it.
ReplyDeleteIt's great to see someone else who brings bird nests into the house ... unused, of course, you'll get the mites (as Diane said). I found one in the yard the other day that birds had made using fishing line and horse hair.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you've been having fun, Kim, with your new finds. Old scales are great to add to a mix.

ReplyDeleteI love that Kim! I have a little nest that the boys found back in Nov at my moms. I guess I can pull it out and use it since its been air deprived for 6 months now in the a plastic bag. Mom scared me saying it could have mites. Have you heard of that?
ReplyDeleteLove this vignette! You are a natural when it comes to styling! Two things that I adore vintage scales and old scales. Love the color of the scale! Hoping to have something to share on your wow us wed tomorrow.

While I fuss about the birds & their nests, you use them in your decor! Maybe I need to embrace them instead of getting so aggravated??

Kim, looks great. Love how you put the whole thing together.
ReplyDeleteI love this vignette! I have a tiny nest out in the garage, I need to bring in. I am thinking it is a hummingbird nest.
ReplyDeleteLoved seeing your blue hydrangea. Wish mine were blue. Soil not acidic enough.
I see lots of scales but the beat up black and whites are my favorite. Yours is delightful and you created a happy and fun scene with it. To the commenter who commented on mites in her bird nest. When you find one of those precious jewels of nature, put it in a plastic bag, pop in the freezer and let stay for a few days. That will kill any insects, etc. in the nest. :) See you tonight Kim
ReplyDeleteI love the vignette! The bird's nest is so charming on top of the antique scale.
ReplyDeleteJody
Love your vignette, Kim. The old scale is really a neat piece and that is a perfect looking nest- LOVE it! xoDiana
ReplyDeleteYou do such a great job with vignettes and this one is extra special with that found nest. Although I'm really liking that hornet's nest from you last post too. I'm wondering where you will go with that?
ReplyDeleteIt looks amazing. I love the mix and that scale is totally fabulous. Gorgeous vignette. Thanks for joining TTT. Hugs, Marty
