The sun room has gone through a couple of changes again with a new jute rug and a colorful textured ottoman that I just love. Oh, and some color has returned, but subdued color not rich and bold. I have been on the hunt for an ottoman for quite some time. I loved the coffee table, but I would put my feet up on it and then my heels would start hurting. I would grab a pillow to put under my feet, but now I don't have, too. If you follow me on Instagram then you know the table moved to another room. There were lots of tables being shuffled from one room to the next.
Spring Tour in the Sun Room
I started with the neutral rug in the sun room and then I felt the room needed a pop of color with the ottoman. Since there is blue in the ottoman I added some blue pillows and blue pottery around the room. Can't go wrong with blue additions. I threw in some plants and the room is ready for those warmer days. We have already had days in the eighties over the weekend and along with that came gobs and gobs of pollen. It's cooling back off this week.

I was a tad afraid of ordering this ottoman not being sure how bold the colors were, but it looks just like it did on the screen. The ottoman is actually a Dash & Albert rug turned ottoman and the rug beneath is a Dash & Albert, too. I have owned so many of these rugs from tiny ones to big ones and all different colors. (not a sponsored post)
I bought the large basket months ago for the new kitchen, but it's a good bit bigger than I expected and really too large for my counter so it works great here to hold magazines. It will be fun switching out pillows in the room to work with these colors.
I added this large blue and white pottery on the gate leg table and added some faux flowers on hand.
I added several different shades of blue in the pillows and this striped throw.
Miss Bailey thinks this chair was put here just for her. I don't know how it's comfortable laying her neck on the arm of the chair.
I love using the antique French pastry table as an end table.
The tree in the pot is doing really well. It's been there for four months and I haven't killed it.
I'm loving the vintage indigo cloth pillows. They even have repaired spots on them, but that's fine with me.
I love the more casual feel of mixed pillows in here.
Books are always good to decorate with. I added the lid to the blue and white jar and a cement pear.
I bought these real pussy willow back in early February and they have done well and they are not in water.
Another green plant that I manged not to kill yet. It's placed in a paper mache bowl that I lined with foil just in case water drains from the plant. Mismatched indigo pillows sit in the leather chairs.
Thanks for stopping by. I hope this gave you some decorating ideas for a family room. Please pin away if you've been inspired.
I'm sending the mister to the store early this morning during the senior shopping time to grab some toilet paper if it's in stock. Fingers crossed!
Enjoy your time at home and a huge thank you to all those working on the front line in this fight agaist this horrible virus.
Love this beautiful, liveable room.
ReplyDeleteLooks great, fresh pillows, the ottoman and green plants give a clean, warm look. One of the HGTV shows, I think Home Town did an ottoman with a rug top but debated on the show if it was an ottoman or a coffee table. I think the muted rug color adds the right punch. We have an oval leather ottoman that is so comfortable in our sunroom.
ReplyDeleteHi Kim
ReplyDeleteI am chucking at your comments about the plants that you "haven't been able to kill" I am a terrible indoor gardener! Love the new ottoman and all the blues. It looks so refreshing.
I must ask the source of your matchstick blinds!
ReplyDeleteThey are either from lowes or Home Depot and they are several years old.
DeleteBeautiful.....I absolutely love your new ottoman!

Kim, it's all so very pretty! Love the subtle colors in the room. The colors and texture on the ottoman are gorgeous too!
ReplyDeleteThe ottoman is the perfect burst of color for this room!
ReplyDeleteThe ottoman is fabulous!!!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful additions!! This is the perfect Monday inspiration I look forward to finding in my inbox.
ReplyDeleteKim, What is the paint color in your sun room. I am sure you have posted it before but I don't know how to find it. I love how you decorate all your rooms but I think the sun room is my favorite.
ReplyDeleteIt's White Dove by Benjamin Moore and all my paint colors are in a post on my right side bar.
DeleteAlways love this beautiful room. Stay safe and well.

A very soothing, relaxing room. I love the ottoman, beautiful job once again! Stay safe.
ReplyDeleteHi Kim.
ReplyDeleteI love the news colors! I just purchased a new rug for our bedroom that has beige neutrals and a bit of a pale grey-blue. Looking for pillows to pull out that blue. Yours are lovely! Good luck with the TP!
Love the cover on the ottoman....makes the whole room....
ReplyDeleteGreat room - love the area rug and ottoman, just beautiful! Can you tell me more about the area rug (i.e., is it wool, jute, indoor/outdoor, etc) where did you purchase it?
ReplyDeleteThe rug is jute and is pretty scratchy, but I don't have anyone crawling on it. I ordered it from annieselke.com
DeleteI love all your decor. You are very talented at designing. What about red cording around the striped pillows in the brown chairs. The fabric on the ottoman is gorgeous. It is a room I would love to relax in. Love seeing your pictures.
ReplyDeleteLove your ottoman and all your blue and white... it looks so fresh! I was wondering if you would tell me the style, maker etc. of your bedroom carpet. I am planning to carpet some areas in my home and like yours. I am also considering wall to wall seagrass. Do you know anything about it? care, wear etc. Thank you
ReplyDeleteMy bedroom carpet is by Mohawk and we got it several years ago. Not sure of the style name as they change their carpets frequently. I really don't know anything about seagrass.
DeleteI was looking for a picture of the stacked baskets that appear on the right side of the first picture.
ReplyDeleteI don't normally show that side of the room as it's just the tv side and my dog's toys. I did share a shot of the baskets in my instagram stories the other day, but it no longer is there. Follow along on instagram for shots around the house as there probably won't be any new blog posts very soon anyway.
DeleteHi there! I'm truly loving your post and all of the design elements you used in your gorgeous sunroom! With the ottoman, you said you purchased it online, can you let me know that source? I love Dash + Albert rugs and as an ottoman top, I'm simply swooning! :)
ReplyDeleteAnnie Selke is the maker of Dash & Albert rugs and the ottoman so go to annieselke.com. Thanks
DeleteWhere did you get the chairs?
ReplyDeletePottery Barn.
DeleteThe room is absolutely beautiful. Love everything about it.
ReplyDeleteI love you sunroom. It's always so inspiring. I hope you are staying well.
ReplyDeleteMissing your posts. Hope you and your family are well.
ReplyDeleteWe are all fine. I've been mentioning that I may not blog anymore and right now I'm not. I'm over on instagram.
DeleteHave you given up you blog? Just curious. I am missing your posts.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Linda. I won't say I'll never post again, but right now I'm not. I'm sharing on Instagram though.
DeleteI am following you on instagram but I like to save your beautiful rooms to pinterest for future inspiration. I don't know how to do that from instagram :( But I will keep following.
ReplyDeleteWhere did you find your couch? Is it slipcovered or upholstered?
ReplyDeleteIt's from Restoration Hardware and it is a slipcover, but it's dry clean only. Hopefully it stays clean for a long time.
DeleteJust read the previous post on the sun room through the years. While they were all lovely rooms, the current is my favorite. Your taste just seems to get better and better and even more refined. Love everything you do. I only read 4 blogs now and obviously yours is one of them. I'll keep checking in with fingers crossed for a post! All the best, Cathy Temple
ReplyDeleteHello! Just checking in on you. Have not received a post from you in a while. I hope all is well!
ReplyDeleteDoing just fine. I decided to quit blogging, but you can find me on Instagram almost daily.
